Car lifts are workshop equipment used to raise passenger cars and commercial vehicles for maintenance, repair and inspection work on the underbody, axles and drivetrain.
Common types include 2-post lifts (classic workshop solution, asymmetrical or symmetrical), 4-post lifts (for wheel alignment, oil changes, and longer periods of stationary work), scissor lifts (short-stroke for bodywork, long-stroke for all-round use), in-ground lifts (retractable into the floor) and lorry lifts with a lifting capacity of up to 30 tonnes.
Leading manufacturers include Hofmann, Nussbaum, Stenhøj, Bendpak, Mahle, Maha, Twin Busch, Otto Nussbaum, Slift and Sun.
Vehicle lifts are used in independent and authorised garages, at TÜV/DEKRA testing centres, in tyre service centres, in lorry workshops, at bodywork and paint shops, and in training centres for automotive mechatronics technicians.
