Gas forklift truck

Gas-powered forklift trucks (LPG forklifts) run on liquefied petroleum gas (propane) and combine the advantages of diesel (outdoor use, power) and electric (lower emissions, suitable for indoor use with a catalytic converter and filter). They can be used flexibly for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Load capacities typically range from 1.5 to 8 tonnes. Advantages include quick refuelling (changing the gas cylinder), lower purchase costs than electric models and higher performance. A prerequisite for indoor operation is adequate ventilation or a forklift with a certified exhaust filter.

Common manufacturers include Linde, Still, Toyota, Jungheinrich, Hyster, Yale, Crown, Mitsubishi Forklift and Komatsu.

Gas forklifts are used by haulage companies, in warehousing and logistics operations with both indoor and outdoor areas, in DIY store hire schemes, by beverage manufacturers, in workshops, and in businesses requiring flexibility with a moderate investment.
