4-wheel forklift trucks (also known as counterbalanced forklifts) are the classic industrial forklifts with four wheels and a counterweight at the rear. They are suitable for medium to heavy loads and are the standard solution in industry, warehousing and logistics.
Variants differ according to drive type: diesel 4-wheel forklifts (outdoor use, up to 16 t capacity), gas forklifts (propane, flexible indoor and outdoor use), electric forklifts (indoor use, emission-free, increasingly popular outdoors too) as well as specialised models for container handling, steel or timber handling.
Common manufacturers include Linde, Still, Toyota, Jungheinrich, Hyster, Yale, Crown, Mitsubishi Forklift, Komatsu and Hyundai.
Four-wheel forklifts are used in warehousing and distribution, in manufacturing plants, in wholesale, at loading bays, in building yards, at recycling centres, in ports and for container handling, as well as in the steel and timber industries for medium-duty loads.
