Blasting systems

Blasting machines are devices used for surface treatment by propelling abrasive media (steel shot, corundum, glass beads, sand, dry ice) onto the workpiece. They mechanically clean, derust, deburr or matt-finish surfaces.

The main types are compressed-air blasting cabinets (manual or automated), wheel-blasting machines (for higher blasting capacity, industrial applications), drum blasting machines for bulk material, overhead conveyor blasting machines for large workpieces, sandblasting cabinets for workshops, and water blasting machines for sensitive surfaces.

Leading manufacturers include Wheelabrator (Norican), Rösler, Wagner, OMSG, Mhg Strahlanlagen, Kärcher, Clemco, Spaleck and Vacu-Blast.

Blasting systems are used in steel construction preparation (prior to painting), in metal finishing, in foundries for cleaning castings, in shipbuilding, in automotive repair, in restoration work, and in aluminium façade finishing.
