Working platforms

Aerial work platforms (also known as lifting platforms or mobile aerial work platforms) are self-propelled or towable machines that lift people and tools to heights ranging from 5 to over 100 metres. They replace scaffolding for temporary work at height and offer flexible positioning.

Variants include scissor lifts (vertical lifting direction, large platform), articulated telescopic platforms (reach with articulation), telescopic work platforms (straight boom, long reach), trailer-mounted work platforms and truck-mounted aerial work platforms for long reaches.

Common manufacturers include Genie (Terex), JLG, Haulotte, Manitou, Skyjack, Snorkel, Ruthmann, Multitel, Niftylift and Hinowa.

Work platforms are used in building maintenance, industrial construction, logistics warehouses, façade and glass cleaning, street lighting maintenance, event technology, tree care and forestry, as well as in shipyards and shipbuilding.
