Buy second-hand telescopic handlers – JCB Loadall, CLAAS Scorpion, Merlo, Manitou, Genie, Haulotte, Dieci, Bobcat – directly from specialist dealers. On many farms and building sites, the telescopic handler replaces a wheel loader, forklift and crane all in one: pallets onto scaffolding, bales into the hall, a bucket in the silo, a work basket on the roof. We offer used telescopic handlers with lifting capacities from 3 to 5 tonnes and lifting heights from 7 to 17 metres from Mecklenburger Landtechnik, Bontebok and Kraus Baumaschinen – with year of manufacture, operating hours and engine power specified in the listing.
Which telescopic handler is right for your application?
Compact, 2.5–3 t / 6–7 m: JCB 525-60, Manitou MT 625, Merlo P 27.6, Bobcat TL26.60. Low-profile (under 2 m), fits into stables and halls; suitable for equestrian centres, small farms and interior fit-outs.
Standard construction size, 3–4 t / 12–17 m: JCB 532-120/535-125, Genie GTH 3007/4013/4017, Haulotte HTL 3614/4017, Dieci 37.7, JLG 3509, Bobcat T35100. Scaffolding, roofing, building construction, prefabricated element assembly. With outriggers and frame levelling for extended reach.
Agriculture, 3.5–5 t / 7–9 m: CLAAS Scorpion 7035–960, JCB 541-70/542-70 Agri, Kramer KT 447, Liebherr T 60-9, Bobcat 43.80 Agri, Massey Ferguson 8947, Manitou MLT. Large buckets, high travel speed (40 km/h), PTO and trailer hitch optional; this is the main focus of our fleet.
Rotary telescopic handlers (360°): Merlo Roto 38.16, Manitou MRT, Magni RTH. Rotating upper structure, crane function, work basket – replaces a mobile crane up to 4–6 t on the construction site.
What to look out for in a used telescopic handler
Boom: Play in the plain bearings (extend the boom, press sideways), condition of the sliding plates, warping, cracks in the boom housing and bearing block, leak-free telescopic and lifting cylinders. Check the telescopic chains or cables for elongation and wear.
Load moment limiter: Must be in working order and have been tested – it prevents the machine from tipping forwards. Test the indicator: Apply a load, extend the boom; the warning and shut-off must be activated.
Axles, steering, brakes: Four-wheel steering with three steering modes (four-wheel, crab steering, front axle) – check synchronisation; play in steering knuckles, oil leaks from planetary gearboxes, brakes (often in an oil bath).
Engine, transmission, operating hours: Cold start, smoke pattern, powershift or hydrostatic transmission (Powershift, Varipower), emission standard. Agricultural loaders operate for 1,000–1,500 hours a year; 5,000 hours with documented maintenance is normal.
Tyres and documentation: Large tyres represent a significant cost. CE marking, declaration of conformity, annual inspection by a qualified person; if fitted with a work basket, additional inspection as a mobile elevating work platform; road approval (20/40 km/h) with operating licence.

Frequently asked questions about used telehandlers
How much does a used telescopic handler cost?
Older construction-grade telescopic handlers (15–20 years old) start in the low five-figure range, whilst newer agricultural handlers with Varipower and low operating hours can reach six-figure sums. Factors affecting the price include year of manufacture, operating hours, lift height, transmission, emissions standard and equipment (PTO, air conditioning, attachments).
Construction or agricultural telehandlers – what’s the difference?
Construction loaders have high lift heights (12–17 m), outriggers and frame levelling, but are slow-moving. Agricultural loaders have a lift height of 7–9 m, large buckets, a top speed of 40 km/h, suspension, a PTO shaft and a trailer coupling. A construction loader is too slow for farm work, whilst an agricultural loader is too low for scaffolding.
Do I need a separate licence for the telescopic handler?
Yes – the training in accordance with DGUV Guideline 308-009 is tailored to telescopic handlers. If fitted with a work basket, this includes qualification for aerial work platforms; without road approval, it is valid only on the premises.
How many operating hours are still acceptable?
Telescopic handlers are designed for 10,000 hours or more. A handler with fewer than 4,000 hours is considered new; with documented maintenance, 6,000 to 8,000 hours is no problem. The boom slide bearings, load moment limiter and gearbox are the deciding factors.
What attachments are available?
Pallet forks, buckets, bale clamps, grab buckets, crane hooks, work baskets, sweepers – via the manufacturer’s own quick-change couplers (JCB Q-Fit, Manitou, Euro) with hydraulic locking. Check which quick-change system is fitted and what is included in the price.
Can I lease a telescopic handler or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings, you can submit a no-obligation leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
