Buy second-hand mowers, hay turners and rakes – CLAAS, Krone, Kuhn, Pöttinger and Vicon directly from specialist dealers. We list the complete forage harvesting range leading up to the baler and forage loader: front- and rear-mounted mowers, butterfly combinations up to 11 m, rotary rakes up to 15 m, single- to four-rotor rakes and belt rakes. Front and rear mowers 2.7–4.4 m: CLAAS Disco 28, 3150 F, 3200 F Move, 3200 FC, 4000 and 4400 Contour, Krone EasyCut F 320 M and 28 P, Kuhn GMD 3125 F and 4410, Pöttinger Cat 270, Fella SM 310, Kubota DM 3095, Fendt Cutter 310, Vicon Extra 390/395. What to look out for when buying second-hand mowers, hay turners and rakes
Cutting bars and discs: oil level and running noise of the cutting bar, play in the disc bearings, condition of blade holders and skids. A cutting bar that has run dry is the most expensive type of damage; we ask about the last oil change and any start-up damage.
Conditioners and cross-conveyors: Check tine or roller conditioners for missing tines and bearing play; for Autoswather and Collect models, check the belts, augers and hydraulic drive.
Rotors and guide rails: On swathers, check the guide rails, rollers and tine arms for play – worn-out guide rails result in uneven swaths. On haymakers, check the tines, rotor gearbox and finger joints.
Chassis, folding mechanism and steering: Check the feeler wheels, tyres on the chassis, that the folding cylinders are airtight, and the lift system relief. For large rakes and butterfly mowers, test the ISOBUS or individual lift function.
Operating profile: The hectare counter, the number of cuts per year and use on stony ground say more than the year of manufacture. We check for evidence of maintenance carried out before the season.

Frequently asked questions about used mowers, hay tedders and rakes
Disc or drum mower?
Disc mowers such as the CLAAS Disco are lighter, require less power and are the standard in Europe. Drum mowers such as the CLAAS Corto or Kuhn Drummaster are robust, hard-wearing when cutting forage and easy to maintain, but they are heavier and more power-hungry.
Do I need a conditioner?
A conditioner breaks up or crushes the forage and reduces drying time by several hours to half a day. It’s almost always worth it for hay and pre-wilted silage, but isn’t essential for pasture grass intended for fresh feeding.
How much does a second-hand rotary rake cost?
Two-rotor rakes such as the CLAAS Liner 2900 or 3600 start at around €10,000, whilst four-rotor rakes range from around €40,000 to €82,500, depending on the year of manufacture. The key factors to consider are the curved track, tine arms and undercarriage.
How many PS does a butterfly combination require?
For front and rear mowers with a 9 m working width without a conditioner, we estimate around 130–150 PS; with a conditioner, 170 PS or more. A front power lift with load relief and a front PTO shaft running at 1,000 rpm are essential.
What rake width is suitable for my mower?
The working width of the rake should be the same as, or slightly greater than, the mower’s working width. A 9-metre combination is best suited to a rake with a working width of 8.5–9 metres, such as a CLAAS Volto 900 or a Kuhn GF 7802.
