Buy drilling rigs for well construction, geothermal energy and specialised civil engineering – ADLER B15 to B200 rigs, direct from specialist dealers. Whether for garden wells, drinking water wells, geothermal probes or micropiles: the drilling rig must be suited to the depth, ground conditions and drilling method – as well as to the compressor that supplies the air for the down-the-hole hammer. We stock ADLER’s compact crawler-mounted drilling rigs, distributed by GSK Baumaschinen in Hanhofen – ranging from the 1.4-metric-tonne entry-level model to the 13-metric-tonne twin-head rig, with engine power and weight specified in the advert.

Which drilling rig is right for your project?

ADLER B15 / B25 – compact for wells up to 50–80 m: 1.4–2.5 t, crawler track, fits through garden gates and onto a car trailer. For well drillers, landscaping contractors and farmers: garden wells, irrigation, small geothermal boreholes. Rotary drilling with flushing or down-the-hole hammer with compressor.

ADLER B50 / B75 – the geothermal class: 4–7 t, 50–100 kW, drilling depths 100–150 m, mast feed for drill string 1.5–3 m. For geothermal probes, drinking water wells, and ground investigation. With twin-head option for casing installation in loose rock.

ADLER B200 – twin-head rig for specialised civil engineering: 13 t, 155 kW, simultaneous casing and inner rod installation – for difficult ground conditions, deep geothermal drilling, micropiles, and grouting boreholes.

The compressor is included: down-the-hole hammer drilling requires 12–35 bar and 12–40 m³/min – the deeper the depth and the larger the diameter, the higher the requirements. We explain which compressor is suitable for which depth in our geothermal energy guide: choosing the right compressor for the drilling depth; you can find the equipment under ‘Construction Compressors’.

What to look for in a drilling rig

Mast, feed mechanism, rotary head: the feed force and retraction force (kN) must be suitable for the depth and casing; the rotary head torque and speed range must be suitable for the drilling method (auger, roller bit, down-the-hole hammer). For second-hand equipment: check for play in the mast guide and rotary head bearings, and the condition of the feed chains or cylinders.

Hydraulics and engine: cold start, exhaust fumes, oil pressure, leak-free cylinders and hoses, emission standard. Read out the fault memory and check the operating hours in relation to the metres drilled.

Undercarriage and stabilisers: rubber tracks, track rollers, stabiliser cylinders, levelling – a drilling rig stands on its stabilisers for hours at a time whilst drilling.

Accessories and documentation: drill string, flushing head, drill bits, casing, clamping and breaking devices, remote control – the accessories often account for a third of the value. CE marking, declaration of conformity, operating instructions, annual inspection by a qualified person; for well and geothermal drilling, qualification in accordance with DVGW W 120 or VBI certification of the operator.

Frequently asked questions about drilling rigs

Which drilling rig do I need for a well?

For garden wells and irrigation up to 30–50 m, a compact rig such as the ADLER B15/B25 with flushing drilling is sufficient. Drinking water wells and depths of 80 m or more require a machine from the B50/B75 class with casing and a down-the-hole hammer – and a high-pressure compressor.

Which compressor is suitable for the drilling rig?

For down-the-hole hammers: 12–24 bar and 12–25 m³/min up to a depth of around 100 m (Atlas Copco XRVS 346, XRHS 385), from 150 m: 25–35 bar and 25–40 m³/min (XRVS 976, Ingersoll Rand XHP 900). Flush drilling requires a flushing pump instead of compressed air.

How much does a drilling rig cost?

Compact well-drilling rigs start in the mid five-figure range; geothermal rigs in the 5–7-tonne class are in the six-figure range, whilst twin-head rigs are significantly higher – in each case excluding the compressor and drill string. Our listings state ‘prices on enquiry’ because the equipment and accessories have a major impact on the price.

Am I allowed to drill wells or geothermal boreholes myself?

Drilling is subject to notification or authorisation (water authority; from certain depths, the mining authority). In Germany, geothermal drilling may only be carried out by certified drilling companies (DVGW W 120-2); for wells, W 120-1 applies. Buying the equipment is the easy part – the necessary qualifications are part of the process.

Can I lease a drilling rig or finance it via hire purchase?

Yes, you can submit a no-obligation enquiry about leasing or hire purchase directly via the adverts. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are arranged directly between you and the seller.
