Information for sellers
Your guide to selling successfully on machinery-market.eu
1. What is machinery-market.eu?
machinery-market.eu is a European online marketplace for trading new and used machinery, attachments, spare parts and similar capital goods. The platform is aimed exclusively at business-to-business (B2B) transactions and connects sellers with buyers from industry, construction, agriculture, logistics, food technology and other sectors.
machinery-market.eu acts solely as an intermediary. Sales contracts are concluded directly between you as the seller and the respective buyer. The operating company is GSK Handels- und Service GmbH (see Legal Notice).
2. Who is permitted to sell on machinery-market.eu?
Only businesses within the meaning of Section 14 of the German Civil Code (BGB) may register as sellers. These include, in particular:
- Machinery dealers (new and used machinery);
- Importers and wholesalers;
- specialist dealers for specific brands, sectors or machine types;
- Manufacturers who sell their own machinery or support their sales partners;
- Insolvency and auction houses that sell machinery on behalf of third parties (with a valid mandate).
Private individuals and consumers are not permitted to act as sellers. As part of the registration process, we may request appropriate evidence of business activity (e.g. extract from the commercial register, business registration, VAT number).
3. How to register
Step 1: Create a seller account
Click on “Sell” or “Become a seller” on the homepage and complete the registration form. We require at least:
- Company name and legal form;
- Contact person’s first and last name;
- Full address and country;
- Telephone number and email address;
- VAT number (if applicable);
- Preferred rate or expected number of advertisements.
Step 2: Verification and activation
Once we have received your registration, we will review your details and, where applicable, the supporting documents you have provided. You will then receive a confirmation email containing your login details or a link to set your personal password. We reserve the right to refuse registration, particularly in cases of reasonable suspicion of misuse.
Step 3: Maintain master data and seller profile
In the vendor area (Vendor Panel), you can enter your master data, your logo, a brief company description and the legally required information (in particular the legal notice, your own terms and conditions where applicable, and shipping and payment details). A complete and professional seller profile significantly increases the trust of potential buyers and your conversion rate.
4. Listing machines — step by step
4.1 Create a new listing
In the vendor area, select “Add product” or “Create listing”. First, select the appropriate main category (e.g. construction machinery, agricultural machinery, commercial vehicles, food technology) and the relevant subcategory. Correct categorisation is crucial to ensure your listing is found by the right buyers.
4.2 Mandatory information
Please complete at least the following fields fully and truthfully:
- Machine description (manufacturer, model, type);
- Year of manufacture;
- Condition (new, used, fully reconditioned, non-operational, etc.);
- Operating hours or comparable wear indicator, where relevant;
- Technical data (e.g. power, weight, dimensions, attachments);
- Scope of delivery and accessories;
- Location of the machine;
- Price (net, in euros, with clear indication of tax rate and price basis, e.g. ‘ex works’);
- Delivery terms, delivery time and, where applicable, shipping options;
- any defects, damage or repair history.
4.3 Images and media
Several recent original photos of the specific machine significantly increase trust and the number of enquiries. Recommendation:
- at least four to six images per advertisement;
- images from the front, rear, both sides, interior/control panel, engine/drive and any areas of defect;
- good lighting, neutral background, no distracting watermarks or telephone numbers in the images;
- high resolution, but with file sizes optimised (e.g. 1 to 4 MB per image);
- your own photographs or images for which you can prove you hold the rights of use.
Placeholder images (“photo to follow”), logos only or generic catalogue images without usage rights are not permitted.
4.4 Product descriptions
A clear, complete and factual description improves your discoverability and reduces queries. Please note:
- Focus on the specific machine — no advertising for other products or services;
- Avoid using lists of keywords or simply repeating search terms;
- Do not include contact details (telephone, email, website URL) in the description text unless this is expressly permitted — enquiries can be made via the platform’s enquiry function;
- if you are offering a machine on consignment or as an agent, please indicate this.
4.5 Publishing and updating
Once your advertisement has been saved, it will usually be published promptly, subject to a brief review by the operator where necessary. Sold machines must be removed from the active inventory or deactivated immediately. Please update the price and availability regularly.
5. Quality requirements and prohibited content
To ensure the platform remains reliable for all parties involved, the following minimum requirements apply:
- Accurate, complete and non-misleading information in the title, description and technical specifications;
- Clear price information or clearly marked ‘price on request’ listings;
- Original images meeting the above requirements;
- Respect for third-party rights (in particular copyright, trademark and competition rights);
- Compliance with legal requirements regarding machine safety, CE marking and export controls.
The following are not permitted in particular:
- multiple listings of the same machine in different categories;
- Bait advertising with unrealistic prices;
- Advertisements without a genuine intention to sell;
- listings intended solely to build reach or promote other platforms;
- illegal, discriminatory, offensive or otherwise objectionable content.
6. Communication with buyers
Please respond to incoming enquiries promptly, ideally within two working days. Professional and prompt communication is the most important factor for a successful sale. We recommend:
- personalised replies rather than standardised text blocks, where possible;
- clear details regarding price, availability, delivery time, shipping and payment;
- providing additional images, videos or data about the machine on request;
- offering viewing and test run appointments openly, where appropriate;
- do not send unsolicited advertising or newsletters to contact details received only once.
7. Conclusion of contract, payment and delivery
The sales contract is concluded directly between you as the seller and the respective buyer. Negotiate the price, delivery and payment terms, as well as any warranty and guarantee provisions, directly with the buyer and document the outcome in writing (e.g. via a written order confirmation, invoice or sales contract).
Recommendations for secure transactions:
- do not hand over the machine until full payment has been received, unless otherwise agreed in writing;
- for international transactions, check customs, tax and export regulations (e.g. VAT certificates for intra-Community supplies, end-user declarations where applicable);
- where appropriate, use escrow services for transactions with new customers;
- Agree clear delivery terms (e.g. Incoterms® 2020).
8. Rates, fees and billing
The currently valid rates, service packages and terms and conditions can be found in the seller area of the platform. You should select the rate that suits the number of your listings and your planned usage.
[PLACEHOLDER: The specific pricing and fee models are to be inserted here once they have been finalised. Common models for machinery marketplaces are: (a) a monthly base fee per number of active listings, (b) a flat rate per individual listing with a fixed term, (c) a success commission on the brokered sale price, (d) combinations of a basic fee and commission, and (e) additional charges for premium placements, featured listings or advertising space. Furthermore, minimum contract terms, notice periods and payment terms must be clearly described.]
Invoices are generally provided electronically via the seller’s portal or by email. Unless otherwise agreed, they are due for payment in full within ten days of receipt.
9. Overview of your obligations as a seller
- You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your listings.
- You must ensure that you are authorised to sell the machines on offer.
- You must keep your company’s legal notice, terms and conditions, and mandatory information up to date at all times.
- You must only use images and content for which you hold the necessary rights.
- You must not use the platform to promote competing platforms or to circumvent the platform.
- You shall respect the rights of your buyers and communicate professionally.
- You shall provide a warranty to your buyers in accordance with the applicable regulations.
10. Ratings and Reputation
Where the platform offers a rating system, it allows buyers to rate your performance. An honest and objective rating practice is the basis for trust on the platform. Manipulation (e.g. purchased reviews, false reviews) is not permitted and may result in the suspension of the seller’s account.
11. Termination and End of the Collaboration
You may terminate your seller contract in accordance with the applicable tariff conditions. Unless a tariff with a minimum term has been selected, a notice period of four weeks to the end of the month generally applies. Notice of termination must be given in writing, e.g. by email to the address provided in the seller’s area or via the termination function in your account, where available.
Termination for cause remains possible for both parties. The operator reserves the right to suspend accounts in the event of serious breaches of the Terms and Conditions or statutory provisions.
