Second-hand reach trucks from Still, Jungheinrich, Linde and BT – direct from specialist dealers. A reach truck is the ideal machine for high-bay warehouses: the mast extends towards the pallet and then retracts, meaning the forklift only requires an aisle width of around 2.7 to 3 metres whilst still being able to lift to a height of 6 to 10 metres. Which reach truck is right for your warehouse?
1.2 to 1.4 t: Still FM-X 14, Jungheinrich ETV 112/ETVC 16, Linde R12/R14. For standard pallets up to around 1,000 kg, lift heights 5 to 8 m. The most common class in warehouses using Euro pallets.
1.6 to 2 t: Still FM-X 17/FM-X 20, Jungheinrich ETV 216, Linde R16/R20 (1120), BT RRE 140/160. For heavier pallets, beverages, chemicals – and for lift heights of up to 10 m and above, where the residual load capacity at the top must still be sufficient.
2.5 t: Still FM-X 25, Jungheinrich ETV 325, Linde R25. For heavy industrial pallets and mesh boxes.
Four-way reach trucks (BT FRE 270, Jungheinrich ETVQ) move sideways and handle long loads such as pipes, sections and timber – the solution for cantilever racking. Wide-track models (Jungheinrich ERV) lift wide loads between the radar arms.
What we look for in a used reach truck
Mast and mast extension: The telescopic mast is the heart of the machine. Check for play in the mast, the condition of the extension rails and rollers, whether the mast extends and retracts smoothly, and whether the mast sways when fully raised with a load. A mast with play becomes a safety hazard at the top.
Lift height and residual load capacity: The rated load capacity applies at the bottom. At lift heights of 8 or 10 metres, often only half or less of the rated capacity remains – check the load capacity chart on the forklift and compare it with the weights of your pallets on the top shelf level.
Battery: Reach trucks are always electric. The battery’s age, capacity and cell condition determine how long it will last a shift; the battery and charger should be included in the scope of delivery. Ask to see the state of charge after the truck has been under load.
Wheels and wheel arms: Vulkollan wheels wear out quickly on rough surfaces; new tyres are a plus. Check the wheel arms for warping – damage caused by colliding with the racking leaves marks.
Cab, seat, controls: Side-mounted seat, transparent roof, lift height preselection, camera on the fork carriage. At a lift height of 10 m, a camera or lift height indicator is more than just a convenience.
Documentation: Annual inspection in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68, CE marking with declaration of conformity, load capacity diagram on the machine.

Still (FM-X), Jungheinrich (ETV) and Linde (R series) share the German market for reach trucks, whilst BT (Toyota) is particularly strong in four-way trucks. Most of our stock comes from Zoch GmbH & Co. KG in Aidenbach, which refurbishes its own warehouse equipment – many machines feature a fresh coat of paint or new Vulkollan wheels. Frequently asked questions about used reach trucks
How much does a used reach truck cost?
Price is determined by lift height, year of manufacture, operating hours and the condition of the battery; four-way models cost significantly more than standard models. Our dealers usually provide prices on request – simply specify the racking height and pallet weight, and you’ll receive a suitable quote.
What lift height do I need?
The top edge of the uppermost shelf plus a reserve of around 150 to 200 mm for loading and unloading. Also check the residual load capacity at this height – at 10 m, it is often only 700 to 1,000 kg.
How much aisle width does a reach truck require?
Depending on the model and pallet dimensions, approximately 2.7 to 3.0 m of working aisle width. That is around one metre less than for a front-loading forklift – which is why the reach truck pays off in terms of racking space.
How many operating hours are still acceptable?
Reach trucks often operate in warehouses for many years; 8,000 to 12,000 hours is not a deal-breaker for well-maintained machines. The mast, battery and electronics are crucial – make sure you can lift a load to full height.
Reach truck or high-lift truck?
For lift heights of up to around 5 m and shorter distances, a high-lift truck is sufficient – and significantly cheaper. From 6 m upwards, with high handling volumes and heavy pallets, a reach truck with a driver’s seat is the right choice.
