What we look for in second-hand presses
Pressure and opening width: The press must be suitable for your workpieces – in terms of maximum length, width and thickness, as well as the achievable pressure. We check that all cylinders move in unison and maintain the pressure throughout the entire pressing cycle.
Pneumatics and hydraulics: Pneumatic presses require a sufficient supply of compressed air; cylinders and hoses must be leak-free. With hydraulic systems, we check for leaks, the condition of the oil and any noise from the pump.
Pressing surfaces and heating: Press beams and plates should be flat and free from adhesive residue. In heated presses, the heat reduces the pressing time; we check the heating plates and temperature control.
Controls and safety: Two-hand operation or safety guards, emergency stop and pressure gauge must be in working order. The pressing force should be finely adjustable to prevent damage to thin parts.
Pellet press: The die and roller are wear parts; their condition determines the follow-up costs.
