Weber

Buy new and second-hand Weber vibratory plates, rammers and rollers – a wide selection of hand-guided compaction equipment directly from specialist dealers. Weber MT is represented in our range with ground compactors – reversible vibratory plates from the CR series, forward-running CF plates and vibratory rammers from the SRV series – as well as individual rollers. Each listing specifies the year of manufacture, operating weight, working width and engine. Supplied by Kraus Baumaschinen in Frankenthal; stock is constantly changing. This page features compaction equipment from Weber Maschinentechnik GmbH (Weber MT) – not barbecues from Weber-Stephen and not building materials from Saint-Gobain Weber.

Weber MT at a glance

Weber MT was founded in 1952 by Günther Weber in Rückershausen, now a district of Bad Laasphe in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district, where the company is still based today. A trained bricklayer, he initially traded in construction equipment; unable to fulfil a customer’s request, he developed his first vibrating plate, the WVP 450. In the 1970s, Weber also manufactured reversible soil compactors for major construction machinery manufacturers. In 2004, the company unveiled COMPATROL at bauma – which, according to the company, was the first comprehensive compaction monitoring system for hand-guided soil compactors.

Weber MT is a third-generation family business: at the turn of the millennium, his son Wolfgang Weber took over as managing director; Katharina and Matthias Weber now run the company. With around 200 employees, including its subsidiaries in France, the Netherlands, the USA, Brazil, Poland and the Czech Republic, Weber generates just under 60 per cent of its turnover from exports; the USA is its largest single market. At bauma 2025, Weber showcased the updated CR 3 and CR 7, as well as the CR 7 DC battery-powered prototype.

CR, CF, SRV: what the Weber model designations reveal

The letters indicate the model type: CR stands for reversible vibratory plates (soil compactors with forward and reverse operation), CF for forward-running vibratory plates, SRV for petrol-powered vibratory rammers, SRE for the cordless rammer, VPR for roller compactors, DVH for duplex rollers and MC for the trench roller. The number in CR and CF roughly indicates the size: from the CR 1 with 15 kN centrifugal force up to the CR 9 with 100 kN. Suffixes describe the engine and equipment: ‘Hd’ stands for a Honda petrol engine on many models, ‘H’ for a Hatz diesel engine, ‘CCD’ for the built-in COMPATROL compaction control, ‘MDM’ for engine protection, and ‘DC’ for battery operation. Suffixes such as -II, -III or -B usually indicate the model series.

What we look out for in a second-hand Weber

Base plate and exciter: Check the base plate for wear, cracks and welded joints; check the oil level in the exciter and ensure it is leak-free. On CR models, the hydraulic directional control must switch smoothly and without jerking between forward and reverse.

Engine, clutch and V-belt: Honda and Hatz engines are considered robust. Test cold start, manual start or electric start, air filter and exhaust smoke; a slipping centrifugal clutch or a frayed V-belt reduces performance. MDM variants protect the engine but require the sensors to be in good working order.

Guide bar and hand-arm vibration: Rubber buffers and vibration-damping metal components on the guide bar are subject to wear. If they are hardened or cracked, hand-arm vibration levels will exceed the value specified by Weber for the new machine.

COMPATROL and documentation: For CCD models, check that the display and measurement functions are working. Ensure you are provided with operating hours, CE marking, the user manual and the UVV inspection certificate; a wheel set, a rubber mat for paving and mounting plates increase the value.

Weber in our range: dealers and stock

Kraus Baumaschinen in Frankenthal stocks our entire range of Weber equipment: mainly soil compactors, plus a few rollers. You can find comparable machines under Bomag, Ammann and Wacker Neuson; rammers and vibratory plates are also available from Belle.

Frequently asked questions about Weber MT

Is Weber MT the same as Weber Barbecues or Saint-Gobain Weber?

No. Weber MT (Weber Maschinentechnik) from Bad Laasphe-Rückershausen manufactures hand-guided compaction equipment for the construction industry. The family-run business has no connection with the barbecue manufacturer Weber-Stephen or the building materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain Weber.

What is the difference between Weber CR and CF?

CF plates only run forwards and are lightweight – ideal for paving and sand. CR plates are reversible, can be driven forwards and backwards continuously, and compact to a significantly greater depth; they range from the CR 1 at 92 kg to the CR 9 at around 740 kg.

What do Hd, H, CCD and MDM stand for at Weber?

For many models, ‘Hd’ stands for a Honda petrol engine, whilst ‘H’ stands for a Hatz diesel engine. ‘CCD’ refers to plates with built-in COMPATROL compaction control, and ‘MDM’ denotes the version with engine protection. ‘DC’ models are battery-powered.

Which second-hand Weber vibratory plates are most commonly traded?

On the major second-hand marketplaces, the CR 7 tops the list, followed by the CR 8, CR 9, CR 2 and CR 3. Among forward-running plates, the CF 1 is the most commonly found.

What is COMPATROL?

COMPATROL is Weber’s compaction control system for hand-guided soil compactors, unveiled at bauma in 2004. A display on the handlebar indicates when the surface has been sufficiently compacted – thus avoiding unnecessary passes.

Are there any Weber compactors with rechargeable batteries?

Yes. Weber offers the SRE 300 battery-powered tamper and the CF 3 DC vibratory plate. At bauma 2025, the company showcased the CR 7 DC prototype with 65 kN and interchangeable batteries.

Which Weber plate is suitable for my construction site?

For paving and sand, CF plates or a CR 1 to CR 2 are sufficient. In sewer and pipeline construction, the CR 3 to CR 7 models have proven their worth, whilst the CR 8 and CR 9 are suitable for cohesive soils and thick fill layers. The key factors are layer thickness, material and trench width.

Can I lease a Weber vibratory plate or finance it via hire purchase?

For many listings – both new and used – you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their financing partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
