Lissmac at a glance
LISSMAC Maschinenbau GmbH is based in Bad Wurzach in the Ravensburg district. It all began in 1978 when Siegfried Gebhart designed a stone saw. In 1979, he founded LISSMAC GmbH with three other partners in neighbouring Aitrach and applied for a patent. Initially, the company was purely a distributor. In 1982, the company moved to Bad Wurzach and began its own production there with seven employees; the plant in the West Industrial Estate followed in 1993. In 2000, the handling technology division of Modern Technik (MT) was added; from 2003 onwards, patented machines for sheet metal processing were developed; and in 2012, Lissmac acquired the Steelmaster grinding machine division.
Today, Lissmac operates in four business divisions: construction technology, metalworking (deburring and edge rounding of sheet metal parts), MT handling and plant engineering. It has subsidiaries in the USA, France and Dubai. Since 2017, the group has included the Swedish company NexTec System AB, which develops methods for laying fibre-optic cables in trenches. In early 2026, Lissmac cut around 60 jobs due to the slump in the construction and mechanical engineering sectors and has employed around 290 people ever since. The production of technically sophisticated machinery is to remain in Bad Wurzach.

What the Lissmac model names reveal
Lissmac does not have a standardised naming convention, but most names can be roughly deciphered. MAB stands for ‘bricklayer’s work platform’. The large MAB 3001 and MAB 3002 models have a load capacity of 3,000 kg and raise the work platform to a height of around 3 m, whilst the smaller models reach just under 2 m. For the LIBELT conveyor belts, the number roughly corresponds to the belt length in centimetres (LIBELT 300: 3.14 m, LIBELT 400: 4.14 m). The floor saws are divided into three size categories: COMPACTCUT for compact machines up to around 26 kW, MULTICUT for medium and heavy-duty machines up to 55 kW, and UNICUT with 100 kW for the deepest cuts. The letter at the end indicates the drive type: P = petrol, D = diesel, E = electric. For many table saws, the number roughly corresponds to the maximum blade diameter in millimetres (ATS 400, DTS 700, DTS 1000); for the LMK 400 mini-crane, it indicates the lifting capacity in kilograms.
| Model | Specifications | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| MAB 3001 / MAB 3002 | 3,000 kg, working height 0.57–3.00 m, platform 4.1 m (MAB 3001), electro-hydraulic, 400 V | Bricklaying with stacks of bricks on the platform |
| MAB 2001 / MAB 2002 | 2,000 kg, working height 0.49–1.99 m | Masonry work on upper floors, interior fitting |
| LIBELT 300 / 400 / 600 | 3.14 / 4.14 / 5.64 m long, LIBELT 300: 0.75 kW at 230 V, 99 kg, up to 40° incline | Rubble, excavated material and bulk materials for refurbishment, demolition and in gardening and landscaping |
| COMPACTCUT 301 P / 401 E | 8.7 kW petrol with 180 mm cutting depth or 7.5 kW electric with 320 mm | Cutting joints in concrete and screed; the electric model can also be used indoors |

What we look for in second-hand Lissmac equipment
Bricklayer’s platform: Check the scissor mechanism, bolts and hydraulic cylinders for play and leaks; raise the platform fully once it is fully loaded. Check the foot switch, guardrails, wheel set, power cable and CEE plug (400 V). Also check the condition of the galvanised finish.
Tile cutters and saws: Check the blade shaft and bearings for play, as well as the depth adjustment, water cooling and blade guard. For petrol-powered models, test cold starting and engine operation; for electric models, test the motor and switch under load. A suitable diamond blade that is not too worn adds value to the offer.
Conveyor belt: Check the belt for cracks and misalignment, as well as the idler rollers, gear motor and the connecting cables, which can be used to link up to three LIBELT belts.
Documentation and inspections: Ensure you are provided with the CE marking, the operating instructions and proof of the most recent inspection carried out by a qualified person; for electrical equipment, also ensure that portable electrical equipment has been inspected.

Frequently asked questions about Lissmac
What is a Lissmac masonry platform?
An electro-hydraulic scissor lift on which the bricklayer stands and the bricks are placed. It is raised incrementally along with the brickwork; in the case of the MAB 3001 and MAB 3002, up to around 3 m with a load capacity of 3,000 kg. This ensures you always work at a height that is easy on the back.
What do the letters P, D and E mean on Lissmac joint cutters?
The letter indicates the drive type: P stands for petrol engine, D for diesel, and E for electric motor. A COMPACTCUT 401 E is therefore an electric floor saw that can also be used indoors.
How long are the LIBELT conveyor belts?
The LIBELT 300 is around 3.1 m long, the LIBELT 400 around 4.1 m and the LIBELT 600 around 5.6 m. Up to three conveyors can be connected in series. The LIBELT 300 weighs just under 100 kg and runs on 230 V.
Who is behind Lissmac?
Siegfried Gebhart founded Lissmac in Aitrach in 1979; the company has been based in Bad Wurzach in Upper Swabia since 1982. As well as construction machinery, Lissmac manufactures deburring and grinding machines for sheet metal working, as well as material handling equipment.
What is Diamond Trenching?
A method for laying fibre-optic cables. A diamond saw blade cuts a narrow slot in the asphalt and base course, whilst a following-behind laying unit inserts the empty conduits directly. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, this allows for 300 to 500 m to be covered per day. The equipment complies with DIN 18220.
Which Lissmac machines are frequently offered for sale?
MAB 3001 masonry work platforms, LMK 400 mini-cranes, COMPACTCUT series floor saws and the FS 20 regularly appear on the market, along with LIBELT 300 and 400 conveyor belts. The second-hand market is relatively small, and good-quality machines are often sold quickly.
Does Lissmac also manufacture machines for metalworking?
Yes, that is our second major business division. The SBM and SMD machines deburr laser-cut and punched parts, round off edges and grind surfaces. Such machines do not fall within our construction machinery categories.
Can I lease a Lissmac machine or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings – both new and used – you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
