Which forestry equipment is right for your business?
Forestry winches: Oehler OL WS 700 EZN, KDG 30 M and KDG 42 SA (approx. €1,550–4,200). For farmers with their own woodland and firewood harvesters who haul logs from stands to the skid trail. Mounted via the three-point hitch, driven by the PTO.
Skidder with crane: Oehler OL 4100 HZ (approx. €19,900). For loading and skidding short logs and firewood to the forest road – the alternative to a forwarder for smaller quantities.
Forestry mulcher: Serrat Farmland-5 T3000 (approx. €29,900). Shreds stumps, undergrowth and branches for site clearance, track maintenance and recultivation. Requires a powerful tractor, usually from 150 PS upwards.

What to look out for when buying second-hand forestry machinery
Winch: Check the cable for broken wires, crushing or kinks; have the brake and clutch adjusted. The protective grille, skid plate and radio or cable-operated controls must be complete and in working order.
Crane and skidder: Check for play in the slewing mechanism and at the pivot pins; ensure cylinders are leak-free; check that the rotator and grapple have no leaks. Check the frame and stanchions for cracks; check brakes and lighting for road use.
Mulchers and chippers: Check tools (hammers, teeth, blades) for wear; check rotor bearings, V-belts and gearbox. For chippers, check feed rollers, counter-blade and emergency stop lever.
Safety and documentation: CE marking, operating instructions and, for cable winches, inspection by a qualified person. For tractors used in the forest, we recommend forestry protection, underbody protection and a front counterweight.

How much does a second-hand forestry cable winch cost?
We offer basic tractor-mounted winches from around €1,550, and larger winches with hydraulic operation up to around €4,200. Radio control and electro-hydraulic operation increase the price significantly.
Which tractor is suitable for forestry work?
For cable winches, 60–100 PS is sufficient. Log trailers with a crane and chipper require 80–150 PS, whilst forestry mulchers usually need more. Forestry protection, robust tyres and sufficient PTO power are important.
Rope winch or skidder?
The cable winch pulls logs out of the stand and onto the skid trail, whilst the forwarder transports the timber to the forest road. Anyone who regularly processes firewood often needs both.
What to look for in a wood chipper?
Maximum log diameter, feed system and drive (PTO or on-board engine) determine performance. Sharp blades and a correctly adjusted counter-blade save fuel and produce uniform wood chips.
Can I lease or finance a forestry machine?
