Second-hand LPG forklifts from Linde and Hyster – direct from specialist dealers. LPG forklift trucks are the ideal solution when a forklift is shuttling between the warehouse and the yard: performance on a par with a diesel, significantly cleaner emissions, and cylinder changes in two minutes instead of a refuelling break. We offer used LPG forklifts with load capacities ranging from 1.6 to 7 tonnes from dealers such as Zoch in Aidenbach and Hinrichs in Oldenburg – with the year of manufacture, operating hours, lift height and engine power specified in the listing.
Which LPG forklift is right for your application?
1.6 to 2 t: Linde H16T/H20T (391 EVO). Beverage retail, DIY stores, workshops, loading – manoeuvrable and suitable for standard pallets.
2.5 to 3.5 t: Linde H25T/H30T (392 EVO, 1202). The best-selling class: freight forwarding yards, production facilities with off-site storage, building materials suppliers, breweries.
4 to 7 t: Linde H40T/H50T (394 EVO), Hyster H7.00FT. Bricks, steel, paper, timber – wherever heavy pallets need to be moved indoors and outdoors.
All our LPG forklifts are 4-wheel counterbalanced reach trucks. Lift heights typically range from 3.5 to 6.5 m; when loading containers, please check the mast height.
What we check for in a used LPG forklift
Gas system: vaporiser, hoses, cylinder mounting and leaks. The liquefied petroleum gas system must be inspected regularly by a qualified technician (DGUV Regulation 79/80) – ask to see the latest inspection report. Leaking systems give off a distinct odour; a forklift that smells of gas needs to go to the workshop, not be purchased.
Engine and catalytic converter: cold start, smooth idling, smoke emissions. For indoor use, the forklift must have a functioning catalytic converter; exhaust emissions are assessed as part of the UVV inspection. Spark plugs and the ignition system are the typical wear parts in LPG engines.
Operating hours and maintenance: As with diesel, the rule is: check maintenance records before checking the hour meter. LPG engines run more cleanly than diesel ones and, with good maintenance, achieve high operating hours.
Mast, tracks, forks, tyres: Track elongation, play in the mast, fork wear (replace from 10 per cent), leak-free lift cylinders, tyre condition. Super-elastic tyres are standard on LPG forklifts as they operate both indoors and outdoors.
Documentation: Annual inspection in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68, CE marking with declaration of conformity, test certificate for the gas system.

Frequently asked questions about second-hand LPG forklifts
Can a LPG forklift be operated indoors?
Yes, provided the warehouse is adequately ventilated and the forklift has a functioning catalytic converter. The employers’ liability insurance association stipulates limit values for exhaust emissions; however, in food processing plants and enclosed cold stores, an electric forklift is usually mandatory.
How do the running costs compare to diesel and electric models?
Depending on the price of the gas cylinders, the cost of gas is roughly on a par with diesel, whilst maintenance costs are similar. Electric forklifts are cheaper to run, but second-hand models usually cost more – due to the battery. LPG is the choice when flexibility is more important than saving every last cent on running costs.
How long does a gas cylinder last?
An 11-kg LPG cylinder lasts for one shift on a 2.5-t forklift truck under normal operating conditions; under full load, it lasts correspondingly shorter. Changing the cylinder takes just a few minutes, and a stock of cylinders replaces the need for a charging station.
What inspections must a LPG forklift undergo?
The annual UVV inspection in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68, the CE marking with a declaration of conformity, and the regular inspection of the liquefied gas system by a qualified person. The dealer should be able to provide all three certificates.
Where can I store gas cylinders?
Spare cylinders must be stored in a well-ventilated, clearly marked storage area, not below ground level and not in escape routes. The Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances (TRGS 510) set out the details; your gas supplier can advise you on this.
Can I lease a LPG forklift or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings, you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are arranged directly between you and the seller.
