Description

Where delicate surfaces need to be cleaned gently yet thoroughly – and where there is often no power supply available – the DC280 Vario Blaster from Deckert really comes into its own: a purely pneumatically operated dry ice blasting machine. It requires only compressed air, no mains socket, and can be precisely adjusted to the cleaning task via air pressure, ice flow rate and particle size – from delicate monument cleaning to heavy-duty removal.

Fully pneumatic dry ice blasting machine for heritage conservation, vehicle restoration and industrial cleaning

  • Building and heritage conservation: façades, natural stone, timber half-timbering, stone steps and monuments – abrasion-free and gentle on materials.
  • Vehicles and restoration: wheel rims, engines, underbodies, vehicle, boat and aircraft parts; with an abrasive kit (dry ice + glass beads), it can also remove rust and paint.
  • Industry: Conveyor belts, generators, tyre and sand casting moulds, tanks, pipework, tools and pressure rollers – residue-free and chemical-free.
  • Can be used off-mains: As it is purely pneumatic, the DC280 operates wherever compressed air is available but no electricity is.

The three key figures

Dry ice consumption 5–80 kg/h. Infinitely adjustable – from gentle cleaning of sensitive surfaces to the rapid removal of stubborn contamination. The ice hopper holds 45 kg.

Inlet pressure 4–15 bar. In short: the pressure determines the blasting power. Together with the adjustable ice flow rate and particle size, the DC280 adapts precisely to the surface in question.

Air requirement: 4–12 m³/min. The DC280 is fully pneumatic and therefore requires a high-performance compressor capable of delivering this volume consistently. We would be happy to help you select the right combination.

Features and scope of supply

  • Fully pneumatic operation – no mains power connection required
  • Continuously variable adjustment of air pressure, ice rate and particle size
  • Blasting unit with 5 m hose assembly, 5 m earthing cable, blasting gun
  • Blasting tube and Venturi nozzle (options: black, gold, red)
  • Assembly spanner, pneumatic oil, ice scoop, side handle
  • Ice container with a capacity of 45 kg
  • Main connection: DIN 3489 claw coupling
  • Optional: Abrasive set (dry ice + glass beads) for rust and paint removal

What to look out for before purchasing

  1. Ensure you have a suitable compressor. The DC280 requires 4–12 m³/min of compressed air. Without a sufficiently rated compressor, the blasting performance will fall short of its potential – we can advise on the right combination.
  2. Don’t forget ear protection. Dry ice blasting is loud (up to 119 dB(A)). Suitable ear protection and safety equipment are essential.
  3. Match the task to the nozzle. By adjusting the particle size, ice feed rate and choice of nozzle, the blasting can be set from very gentle to powerful – suitable for delicate monuments as well as for stubborn paint.

Frequently asked questions

What sets the DC280 apart from other dry ice blasting machines?

The DC280 operates purely pneumatically – it requires no mains power, only compressed air. This makes it particularly versatile on building sites and at locations without a power socket. Air pressure, ice flow rate and particle size are infinitely adjustable.

What compressor do I need?

For full performance, 4–12 m³/min of compressed air is required. You will therefore need a high-performance compressor. We stock suitable mobile construction compressors – please contact us to find the right combination.

Can I also use it to remove rust and paint?

Yes. With the optional abrasive kit, the DC280 combines dry ice with glass beads to remove rust and paint – gentle on the material and ideal for classic car restoration.

Is the process residue-free?

The dry ice sublimates on impact and disappears without leaving any residue; no blasting agent remains and no chemical cleaners are required. Only the loosened dirt is left behind.

What is included in the scope of delivery?

Blasting unit with 5 m hose assembly and 5 m earthing cable, blasting gun, blasting tube with Venturi nozzle (black/gold/red), assembly spanner, pneumatic oil, ice scoop and side handle.
