Deckert at a glance

The company’s roots date back to 1984: Siegfried Deckert founded a business in Lüneburg specialising in customised systems, hot-melt adhesive technology and welded assemblies, initially in the Goseburg industrial estate. In 1999, the business moved to a new warehouse complex at Lüneburg harbour; in 2001, DCA Deckert Anlagenbau GmbH was formed as a spin-off and is now based on Theodor-Marwitz-Straße. Deckert has been manufacturing and selling dry ice blasting systems since 2011; hydraulic drum melters for highly viscous substances were added in 2013, followed in 2024 by cutting systems for the plastics and rubber industry. Mark Oliver Deckert, the founder’s son, has been the commercial managing director since 2021; Siegfried Deckert passed away in 2024.

Deckert describes itself as a long-established medium-sized company with around 30 permanent employees. The company is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2 (welding) and DIN EN 1090. Dry ice blasting is thus one of its business areas, alongside barrel melters, cutting systems, welded structures and specialised systems – the blasting units are manufactured in a mechanical engineering workshop that has in-house expertise in compressed air, metering and welding technology.

DC or DCE: what the Deckert model designation reveals

Deckert distinguishes its blasting units by their drive type. According to the data sheets, the DC units (DC 50, DC 280) operate purely pneumatically – they require only compressed air and no mains power supply, which is practical for outdoor use. The DCE units (DCE 80, DCE 480) have a 230 V electric drive and operate as a single-hose system. The additional designation ‘Vario Blaster’ refers to the Vario grinding mechanism: With the DC 50, the pellets can be crushed into three particle sizes (0.4, 0.8 and 2.0 mm); with the DC 280, the ice particle size is adjustable – fine for delicate surfaces, coarse for stubborn deposits. The number identifies the machines within the range, but it does not correspond to either the hopper capacity or the ice throughput.

What we look for in a second-hand Deckert blasting machine

Compressed air suitable for the machine: air consumption ranges from around 0.6 m³/min for the DC 50 to 9.5 m³/min for the DC 280 and DCE 480. A large machine connected to a compressor that is too small will not deliver the specified performance. The air must be dry – damp compressed air causes pellets to clump and pipes to freeze, which is why aftercoolers or compressed air dryers are part of the equipment.

Metering and grinding unit: The metering disc, seals and, on the Vario Blaster, the grinding unit are wear parts. Check that the ice flow is regulated continuously and evenly and that the unit blasts without pulsation.

Hoses, gun, nozzles: Check the blasting hose for kinks and abrasion, and inspect the blasting gun and nozzle set for wear. A complete set of nozzles and an abrasive kit significantly enhance the value of the unit.

Electrics and documentation: For DCE machines, test the cable, control unit and vibration function. Ensure you are provided with the operating instructions, declaration of conformity and maintenance records; demonstration models often have very few operating hours.

Deckert with us: Dealers and stock

GSK Baumaschinen in Hanhofen stocks our range of Deckert equipment: the DC 50 Vario Blaster, the DCE 80 and DCE 480, the DC 280 Vario Blaster as a new unit, as a demonstration unit with an abrasive set and second-hand, as well as the abrasive set sold separately. Suitable compressors from Atlas Copco and Kaeser are available there. Dry ice blasting machines from another German brand can be found under White Lion.

Frequently asked questions about Deckert dry ice blasting machines

Who manufactures Deckert dry ice blasting machines?

DCA Deckert Anlagenbau GmbH from Lüneburg. The family-run business was founded by Siegfried Deckert in 1984 and has been manufacturing dry ice blasting systems since 2011, alongside drum melters, cutting systems and welded assemblies.

What is the difference between DC and DCE?

DC machines, such as the DC 50 and DC 280, operate purely pneumatically and do not require electricity. DCE machines, such as the DCE 80 and DCE 480, have a 230 V electric drive and operate as single-hose systems.

What does ‘Vario Blaster’ mean?

Vario Blaster refers to Deckert units fitted with a Vario grinding mechanism, which crushes the dry ice pellets before they reach the nozzle. With the DC 50, there is a choice of three particle sizes ranging from 0.4 to 2.0 mm; with the DC 280, the particle size is adjustable – allowing both delicate and heavily soiled surfaces to be treated with a single machine.

Which compressor is suitable for the DC 280?

Depending on the nozzle and pressure, the DC 280 requires 3.5 to 9.5 m³/min at up to 15 bar. This can be provided by medium to large mobile construction compressors or stationary screw compressors – always fitted with an aftercooler or dryer to ensure dry air.

What is the small DC 50 suitable for?

The DC 50 weighs 20 kg and requires an air flow of 0.6 to 2.4 m³/min. It is suitable for control cabinets, tools, moulds and vehicle care, and can be operated using sufficiently large workshop or screw compressors.

What is the abrasive kit used for?

The abrasive kit is used to mix an abrasive agent into the dry ice. This enhances the mechanical effect, for example when removing graffiti, paint residues or stubborn deposits. Deckert offers it as an optional extra for all blasting units.

Why dry ice instead of sand or water?

Dry ice sublimates on impact and leaves behind neither blasting agent nor water. This means that systems, moulds and control cabinets can often be cleaned without dismantling; all that remains is the dislodged dirt.

Can I lease a Deckert dry ice blasting machine or finance it via hire purchase?

For many listings – both new and used – you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
