What the White Lion model designation reveals
All units bear the brand’s ‘WL’ abbreviation. The number following it broadly indicates the performance class: The WL 1500 Competition produces up to 80 kg of dry ice per hour at up to 10 bar, the WL 3000 Profi up to 120 kg/h and the WL 5000 AirMax up to 140 kg/h, both at up to 16 bar. The suffix describes the model and application: ‘Profi’ is the standard aluminium unit; ‘Iron’ has a solid, electropolished stainless steel chassis; and ‘Robby’ is designed for robotic operation. For the AirMax, the specification ‘3/4 inch’ or ‘1 inch’ indicates the diameter of the blasting hose. The Cube machines are cube-shaped – the Mini Cube measures 48 × 48 × 48 cm. The larger machines are designed for 3 mm pellets; the WL 3000 Profi operates as a single-hose system.

Our guide ‘Choosing a construction compressor: pressure and air flow’ explains what size compressor you need.
What we look for in a second-hand White Lion
Compressed air quality and flow rate: White Lion requires compressed air to meet ISO 8573-1 Class 3 standards, meaning it must be largely free of oil and water. Moist air causes pellets to clump and the metering system to freeze – an aftercooler or compressed air dryer is therefore essential. The compressor must be able to deliver the flow rate required for the nozzle and pressure; for the WL 3000 and WL 5000, this is up to 16 m³/min depending on the application.
Hoppers, vibration and metering: The insulated hoppers use electric vibration to ensure the pellets feed through evenly. Test the vibration function, the metering disc and the infinitely variable flow control; on the WL 3000, check the digital display showing the pellet quantity.
Hoses, gun and nozzles: Check the blasting hose, compressed air hose and gun for wear and kinks. On the WL 3000 Profi, the nozzles can be changed without tools; a complete nozzle set significantly expands the range of applications.
Frame, wheels, electrical system: Inspect the aluminium frame and conductive wheels for damage; test the 230 V connection and the control system. Ask for the operating instructions and maintenance records to be provided; White Lion also offers its own service and maintenance.
