What we look for in used attachments
Mounting compatible with the loader: Euro mount, SMS, Manitou, CLAAS Scorpion and Torion, JCB Q-Fit and VLS are not compatible with one another. Before purchasing, check the mounting on your own loader or plan to use an adapter – however, this reduces the payload and shifts the centre of gravity forwards.
Dead weight and lifting capacity: Grab buckets and sweepers can easily weigh several hundred kilograms; this dead weight is deducted from the loader’s lifting capacity. For heavy front-loader work, a rear counterweight must be fitted to the tractor to ensure the rear axle retains its load.
Hydraulics: Grabs, tongs and hydraulically driven sweepers require an additional double-acting circuit on the loader, for example as a third control circuit. Check cylinders for leaks and grooves on the piston rod; check hoses for chafing; ensure the coupling type and size are compatible with your own loader.
Wear parts: cutting edges and blades on grab buckets, tines on pallet forks (bent, cracks on the fork backs), brush rollers on sweepers, scraper strips on push blades, and bolts and bushings at all pivot points. Bolt-on cutting edges can be replaced at low cost.
Frame and brackets: Cracks in welded seams, re-welded areas and warped mounting hooks are grounds for rejection. Front loader brackets must be compatible with the tractor model and year of manufacture – which is why the CLAAS model designations are listed in the advert.

Frequently asked questions about front loader attachments
What type of mounting does my front loader have?
Tractor front loaders predominantly use the Euro mounting; older or lighter loaders sometimes use SMS. Telescopic and wheel loaders often have manufacturer-specific mountings such as Manitou, JCB Q-Fit or CLAAS Scorpion and Torion. The key factors are hook spacing, pin position and locking mechanism – if in doubt, please include photos of the attachment point.
How much do front loader attachments cost?
Prices for items in stock range from around €400 to €8,700. Adapters and simple pallet forks tend to be at the lower end of the scale, whilst grab buckets, bale clamps and sweepers are generally at the higher end.
Is an adapter a better option than a dedicated mounting?
For equipment used only occasionally, yes, as one piece of equipment can then be used on several machines. For daily use, the direct mounting is better: less weight, less overhang, more lifting power and less play.
What hydraulics does a grab bucket require?
An additional double-acting circuit for the grapple; on front loaders, this is usually provided as a third control circuit via a multi-coupler or electric selector. Depending on the design, hydraulically driven sweepers also require an additional oil flow for the brush drive.
Should you buy new or second-hand?
