Buy second-hand seed drills – Väderstad, Lemken, Amazone, Horsch and Maschio, direct from specialist dealers. We list mechanical mounted seed drills, pneumatic seed drill combinations and precision seed drills for maize, beet and rapeseed. Prices range from a simple 3-metre drill starting at around €1,900 to the new 12-row Väderstad Tempo for around €113,000. Each listing specifies the working width, number of rows, year of manufacture and features such as a front tank, ISOBUS or Section Control.
Which seed drill is right for your farm?
3-metre mechanical seed drills: Lemken Saphir 7 and Amazone D8-30E. For farms using a mounted rotary harrow, sowing cereals and catch crops on smaller fields. Simple technology, low traction requirements, low maintenance costs – easy to operate from around 90 PS.
Pneumatic seed drill combinations 3–6 m: Amazone Cirrus 6003-2 (towed, 6 m, year of manufacture 2023, approx. €88,000), Horsch Pronto 3 DC and Pronto 6 KE, Väderstad RDA 600 C. Disc segments, tyre packers and seed bar in a single unit: mulch and plough sowing in a single pass, working speeds of 12–15 km/h. For a 6 m working width, you should allow for 200 PS or more.
Tine seed drills for large areas: Horsch Airseeder CO 9 with a 9 m working width. For direct and mulch sowing on large fields, as is common in northern and eastern Germany.
Precision seed drills, 6–12 rows: Väderstad Tempo V 12, Tempo TPV 8, TPV12 WSX and Tempo TPF 8 (year of manufacture 2026, approx. €67,000–113,000), Lemken Azurit 9 and Azurit 10K with Solitair 23 front tank for in-row fertilisation (approx. €34,000–46,000), Amazone ED 602 K and EDX 9000 TC, Maschio Chrono 306 and Manta IST 12, Kverneland Optima HD, Becker Aeromat C. For maize, sugar beet, sunflowers and rapeseed using single-seed sowing.
What to look out for in second-hand seed drills
Seeding coulters and discs: measure the diameter of the double discs against the new part specification; check for play in the bearings on the coulters and pressure rollers; check that the coulter pressure springs or hydraulic coulter pressure are set evenly. A complete set of discs for a 6-metre machine can easily cost a mid-four-figure sum.
Metering and blower: Check the seed shafts, metering wheels and separating discs for wear and completeness; check the blower for bearing noise; and check the air hoses and distributor head for cracks. For single-seed machines, ask for a calibration test or test bench results.
Electronics and ISOBUS: The terminal, job computer and sensors (seed flow monitoring, fill level) must be in working order. Activation for Section Control or area-specific sowing is often linked to the terminal or the machine – check the advert to see what features are active.
Frame, folding mechanism, tyres: Check for cracks in the folding joints and drawbar, ensure the hydraulic cylinders are leak-free, and check that the packer tyres are worn evenly. For front-mounted tanks, check the feed screw, metering unit and hose lines to the rear-mounted machine.
Area covered and maintenance: Many terminals display the area sown. A well-maintained 3-metre seed drill can cover 3,000 ha or more; the key factor is whether the machine was cleaned after the season and stored in a dry place – fertiliser left in the tank corrodes metal parts and the metering unit.

Brands and dealers
With its Tempo range, Väderstad sets the standard for high-speed single-seed sowing with positive-pressure seed separation; Lemken offers a combined system for sowing and in-row fertilisation with the Azurit and Solitair. Amazone covers the entire spectrum from the D8 to the Cirrus, whilst Horsch is a strong player in seed drill combinations and tine seed drills for large farms. Maschio, Kverneland and Becker round off the single-seed range.
Almost all the machines come from Mecklenburger Landtechnik in northern Germany – including several new Väderstad Tempo and Lemken combination models. Filter by manufacturer, working width, year of manufacture and price.
Frequently asked questions about second-hand seed drills
How much does a used seed drill cost?
Mechanical 3-metre seed drills are available from us from around €1,900. Second-hand precision seed drills with front tanks range from approx. €34,000 to €46,000, whilst a pneumatic 6-metre seed drill combination of a more recent model year costs approx. €88,000. New 12-row precision seeders cost around €113,000.
Mechanical or pneumatic seed drill?
The mechanical seed drill is affordable, robust and offers a working width of up to 3 metres. From 4 metres onwards, for front-tank solutions and for high driving speeds, the pneumatic machine is superior because a central metering unit supplies all the coulters evenly.
How much tractor power does a seed drill combination require?
As a rule of thumb, we allow for 35–45 PS per metre of working width for trailed combinations with disc segments. A 6-metre machine such as the Amazone Cirrus 6003-2 requires 200–260 PS, whilst a 3-metre seed drill behind a rotary harrow requires 100–140 PS.
Is a front tank worthwhile for precision seeding?
Yes, if you are applying subsoil fertiliser. A front tank, such as the Lemken Solitair 23, takes the load off the rear axle, improves weight distribution on the tractor and increases the fertiliser capacity, meaning fewer refuelling stops are needed.
What row spacing for maize?
In Germany, 75 cm is standard; an 8-row machine therefore covers 6 m, whilst a 12-row machine covers 9 m. The number of rows should match that of the maize coulter or hoeing implement.
Can I lease or finance a seed drill?
For many listings, you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can clarify the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are arranged directly between you and the seller.
