Buy new and second-hand Saphir soil cultivation equipment, front loader attachments and farm machinery – a wide selection direct from specialist dealers. Under the ‘Saphir’ section, you’ll find equipment from Saphir Maschinenbau in Lower Saxony: soil cultivation equipment such as compact disc harrows, cultivators, harrows and knife rollers, silage and feeding equipment in the forage mixer category, transport equipment under ‘trailers’, as well as attachments for front-loaders, farm loaders and telescopic handlers – such as shovels, pallet forks and transport boxes. Each listing specifies the working width, mounting type and specifications. The equipment is supplied by Mecklenburger Landtechnik from Gülzow-Prüzen; the stock changes regularly. Important note: This page features equipment from the Saphir Maschinenbau brand – not the Saphir seed drill of the same name from Lemken.
Saphir at a glance
Saphir Maschinenbau GmbH is based in Gyhum-Bockel in Lower Saxony and is part of the Fricke Group, which has its roots in the agricultural machinery trade. Its roots lie in the trade: from the late 1970s, Wilhelm Fricke exported second-hand machinery to Poland, which gave rise to the idea of having simple and robust machinery manufactured in Poland and sold in Germany. The Saphir brand has been in existence since 2000; and since March 2013, the company has been operating from its current site, which comprises around 15,000 m² of land, a warehouse and its own assembly hall. Individual parts are manufactured in Central Europe – a factory in Poland produces almost exclusively for Saphir – whilst final assembly is carried out by metalworkers and agricultural machinery mechanics in Bockel. Saphir employs just under 70 staff, including its own mechanical engineers; in 2020, turnover stood at around 23.5 million euros.
According to the company, the product range comprises over 2,500 machines and components for grassland, soil cultivation, silage, farmyards and local authorities. Since around 2015, the machinery has featured the company’s own colour scheme in anthracite grey and red. Sales are handled via a network of specialist dealers across Europe; spare parts are supplied by the sister company Granit Parts. Since 2013, Saphir has also been the importer of the Polish brand Samasz for Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg.

What the Saphir model designation reveals
For its soil cultivation equipment, Saphir uses model names ending in ‘-Star’: DiscStar for compact disc harrows, TerraStar and TineStar for cultivators, DeepStar for subsoilers, ClearStar for straw harrows, and AllStar for spring-tine harrows. The number following the name usually indicates the working width: a DiscStar 305 has a working width of 3.0 m, a DiscStar 605 of 6.0 m, and a ClearStar 900 of 9 m. The suffixes ‘Profi’ and ‘Ecoline’ distinguish the heavy-duty version from the simpler version. For farm and front-loader attachments, abbreviations indicate the type of attachment – TB for transport box, TL for rear container, SSZE for silage cutter, PG for pallet fork, LH for load hook – whilst the number roughly indicates the width or size (TB 141 ≈ 140 cm wide). The specifications in the advert are authoritative.

What we look for in a second-hand Saphir
Wear parts on soil cultivation equipment: check disc diameter, coulters, harrow tines and SinusCut blades. Check the bearings on the discs and rollers for play and unusual noises; inspect the rear roller for damage.
Mounting and attachment: For front-loader and farm loader implements, the mounting must be compatible – Euro mounting, SMS, three-point or manufacturer-specific adaptors. Inspect the locking mechanism, bolts and welds on the mounting; for hydraulic implements, check the hoses and couplings.
Frame and folding mechanism: For trailed and folding implements, check the frame for cracks, the hydraulic cylinders for leaks and the transport locking mechanism. Lighting and warning signs are essential for road use.
Silage technology: For silage cutters, check the blades, tines and cylinders; for silage rollers, check the bearings, towing device and water fill level. Spare parts are available from specialist retailers and our sister company, Granit Parts.

Frequently asked questions about Saphir
Is Saphir Maschinenbau connected to the Lemken Saphir seed drill?
No. Saphir Maschinenbau, based in Gyhum-Bockel, is an independent manufacturer of soil cultivation, grassland and farm equipment and is part of the Fricke Group. At Lemken, however, ‘Saphir’ is the name of a mechanical seed drill. You can tell the difference by the equipment type listed in the advert.
Where are Saphir machines manufactured?
Individual components are manufactured in Central Europe, including at a Polish factory that produces almost exclusively for Saphir. Final assembly, development and warehousing are based in Gyhum-Bockel in Lower Saxony.
What does the number in DiscStar or ClearStar mean?
It usually indicates the working width: DiscStar 305 stands for 3.0 m, DiscStar 605 for 6.0 m, and ClearStar 900 for 9 m. ‘Profi’ denotes the heavy-duty version, whilst ‘Ecoline’ denotes the simpler version.
Which Saphir implements are frequently traded second-hand?
Primarily soil cultivation implements such as DiscStar compact disc harrows, SinusCut cutter rollers and cultivators, as well as silage cutters, TL-series rear-mounted containers and front-loader attachments such as pallet forks and shovels.
Will Saphir front-loader attachments fit my loader?
Most implements are available with a Euro attachment, and many also with a three-point hitch or other standard attachments; Saphir also offers adaptors. Check the attachment type in the advert and ask the dealer if your loader has a special attachment.
What tractor power is required for a Saphir short-disc harrow?
The DiscStar 305 Profi with a 3-metre working width requires from around 80 PS upwards, whilst the 6-metre version requires around 170 PS. More power allows for higher working speeds.
Can I lease a Saphir implement or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings – both new and used – you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
