Buy new and used Kuhn agricultural machinery – a wide selection of mowers, rotary tedders, rakes and balers directly from specialist dealers. Kuhn manufactures a comprehensive range of equipment for grassland management, soil preparation, sowing, fertilisation and feeding. You’ll find Kuhn machinery here primarily in the Mowers, Hay Tedders & Rakes category – front-mounted mowers, ‘Butterfly’ combinations from the GMD series and GF rotary hay tedders – along with matching balers, tillage equipment, ploughs and fertiliser spreaders. Each listing specifies the year of manufacture, working width, specifications and condition. Offered by Mecklenburger Landtechnik in Gülzow-Prüzen; the stock changes regularly. This refers to the French agricultural machinery manufacturer Kuhn from Alsace.
Kuhn at a glance
In 1828, the blacksmith Joseph Kuhn founded a business in Saverne, Alsace, which initially manufactured scales; from 1864 onwards, he and his brothers began building agricultural machinery. In 1946, Kuhn merged with the Swiss agricultural machinery manufacturer Bucher-Guyer – today, the Kuhn Group is a division of the listed company Bucher Industries. Three inventions have shaped the brand: in 1967, according to the company’s own accounts, Kuhn introduced the world’s first disc mower; this was followed in 1970 by the first rotary rake and the first mower-conditioner, and in 1975 by the first rotary harrow.
Through acquisitions, the product range expanded well beyond forage harvesting: in 1987, the plough manufacturer Huard; in 1993, Audureau (forage mixers); in 1996 Nodet (seed drills), in 2002 Knight in the USA, in 2008 the field sprayer manufacturer Blanchard and the Kverneland plant in Geldrop, the Netherlands, with round balers and wrappers, in 2011 Krause (USA), 2014: Montana (Brazil) and 2018: Artec. Kuhn has production sites in Saverne, Monswiller, Châteaubriant and La Copechagnière in France, in Geldrop, Brodhead and Hutchinson (USA), and in Passo Fundo (Brazil), amongst others. In 2025, the Kuhn Group generated a turnover of 1,053 million Swiss francs and employed 5,457 people at the end of the year. The German sales office is based in Schopsdorf near Genthin (Saxony-Anhalt), where construction of a new site began in 2025.

What the Kuhn model designation reveals
The letters indicate the model type: GMD stands for disc mowers, FC for mower-conditioners, PZ for drum mowers, GF for rotary tedders, GA for rotary rakes. For balers, FB stands for fixed chamber, VB for variable chamber (VB 3200: bales 0.80 to 1.60 or 1.85 m), SB for large-bale baler. For mowers and tedders, the first digits usually roughly indicate the working width, whilst the last digits indicate the series: A GMD 3125 F is a front-mounted mower from the 1025 series with a working width of 3.10 m; a GF 7902 turns around 7.8 m; a GF 8712 turns around 8.7 m, whilst the GMD 8730 combination mows 8.75 m. ‘F’ denotes front-mounted, ‘T’ the trailed version. The classification is not always clear for every older model – if in doubt, check the type plate.
| Model | Specifications | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| GMD 3121 / 3123 / 3125 F-FF | Front mower, 3.10 m | with rear mower or butterfly mower on forage farms |

| FC 313 | Mower-conditioner | faster wilting of grass and hay |
| GF 7902 | Rotary tedder, 7.8 m, 8 rotors, from approx. 30 kW | Mounted tedder for farms with 3-metre mowers |
| GF 8712 | Rotary tedder, 8.7 m, 8 rotors, from approx. 36 kW | Turning in line with mower combinations |
| GA 4321 GM / GA 8030 | Single-rotor or twin-rotor rake | Swath for baler and forage loader |
| VB 3160 / VB 3260 | Variable-chamber round baler | Hay, straw and silage with varying bale sizes |
| FB 3125 | Round baler with fixed chamber | Silage and hay bales all year round |

What we look for in second-hand Kuhn machinery
Cutting bar: Kuhn disc mowers are fitted with the Optidisc cutting bar; Protectadrive protects the disc drive on current models. Check for running noise, oil in the cutter bar, blade holders, skids and the quick-change blades; on Lift-Control mowers, check the relief mechanism.
Tedders and rakes: Check the tines and tine arms, rotor gearbox, joints between the rotors and the folding mechanism. On rakes, check the guide track, rollers and feeler wheels – play in the tine arms leads to an uneven swath.
Bales: Check the bale counter, pick-up, cutting unit and blades, as well as the chains, rollers or belts in the bale chamber; on combination machines, check the wrapper and the film tensioners. For balers from Geldrop that were manufactured before 2008 under a different name, check with the dealer regarding the availability of spare parts.
Tillage and paperwork: For ploughs, check the ploughshares, mouldboards, attachments and stone guards; for rotary harrows, check the gearbox and tine holders. Compare the serial number and year of manufacture with the advert and ask for maintenance records.

Frequently asked questions about Kuhn
Where does Kuhn come from and who owns the company?
Kuhn was founded in 1828 by Joseph Kuhn in Saverne, Alsace, where it remains headquartered to this day. Since its merger with Bucher-Guyer in 1946, Kuhn has been part of the Swiss-based Bucher Industries; the Kuhn Group operates as a separate division within the group.
What do GMD, FC, GF and GA stand for at Kuhn?
GMD stands for disc mowers, FC for mower-conditioners, GF for rotary tedders and GA for rotary rakes. The first digits usually give a rough indication of the working width – a GF 8712 has a working width of around 8.7 m, whilst a GMD 3125 F has a working width of 3.10 m.
What is the difference between Kuhn FB and VB?
FB balers have a fixed bale chamber and produce bales of a consistent diameter, whilst VB balers have a variable chamber – in the case of the VB 3200, this ranges from 0.80 to 1.60 or 1.85 metres. When fitted with a wrapper, the combinations are called FBP and VBP.
Which Kuhn machines are most commonly traded on the second-hand market?
On the major second-hand marketplaces, these are primarily GMD disc mowers (particularly the front-mounted mowers GMD 3121 to 3125) and the FC 313 mower-conditioner, GF rotary tedders, GA rakes, the VB 3260 round baler and ploughs from the Master series.
Are Kuhn and Kverneland connected in any way?
In 2008, Kuhn took over the factory in Geldrop (Netherlands) from the Kverneland Group, which produced round balers, wrappers and drum mowers. Geldrop has been part of the Kuhn network ever since; Kverneland itself remained an independent brand.
Does Kuhn only manufacture grassland machinery?
No. As well as mowers, tedders, rakes and balers, Kuhn manufactures ploughs, rotary harrows, cultivators, seed drills, fertiliser spreaders, field sprayers, forage mixers, bedding spreaders and mulchers. Kuhn first manufactured the rotary harrow in 1975.
How can I get hold of Kuhn spare parts in Germany?
The German sales office is based in Schopsdorf near Genthin; spare parts and service are handled by Kuhn authorised dealers. When ordering, please have the model, serial number and year of manufacture from the type plate to hand.
Can I lease a Kuhn machine or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings – both new and used – you can submit a non-binding enquiry about leasing or hire purchase directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are arranged directly between you and the seller.
