Second-hand all-terrain forklifts, side-loading forklifts, four-way forklifts, telescopic forklifts, tractors and ride-on forklifts – direct from specialist dealers. Not every load is suited to a front-loading forklift: pipes, sections and timber require a side-loading forklift; building sites need an all-wheel-drive off-road forklift; roofers and farmers require a telescopic forklift; and haulage companies need a truck-mounted forklift. Here you’ll find the specialised equipment from our dealers Zoch in Aidenbach and Hinrichs in Oldenburg – with year of manufacture, operating hours, load capacity and lift height listed in the advert.

Which specialised machine is right for your job?

All-terrain forklifts (four-wheel drive): Manitou MC 25/MC 30/M 50/MSI 50, Ausa C 351/C 501. Diesel, four-wheel drive, high ground clearance, off-road tyres – for construction sites, building materials yards, timber yards, agriculture and horticulture. Lifting capacity from 2.5 to 5 tonnes.

Side-loading forklifts and four-way forklifts: Bulmor DQ/DQN/EMU, Baumann Fox, Combilift C-Series and CBE, Bison, Battioni e Pagani HT. For long loads up to 12 m and over – pipes, steel sections, timber, window frames, plastic sheets – in narrow aisles and outdoors. Combilift and Bulmor four-way trucks can travel both lengthways and crossways, replacing two forklifts.

Telescopic handlers: JCB 525-60/540-140, Merlo TF 35.7, Magni RTH 6.25 (360° rotation). Reaches of up to 25 m, load capacities of 2.5 to 6 t, interchangeable attachments (forks, bucket, work platform, crane hook) – for construction, agriculture, hall construction and refurbishment.

Tow tractors and side-seat forklifts: Linde P80 electric tow tractor for trailer combinations in manufacturing, airports and hospitals; Jungheinrich ESC side-seat forklift for narrow aisles and long distances in warehouses.

Truck-mounted forklifts: Moffett M4 – mounted at the rear of a lorry, it unloads building materials, drinks and pallets at the customer’s premises without the need for a ramp.

What we look out for when buying

Off-road forklifts: four-wheel drive and differential lock under load, condition of off-road tyres, play in the steering cylinders, frame and mast bearings following use on construction sites. Engine as for diesel forklifts – cold start, smoke emissions, emission standard.

Side-loaders and four-way forklifts: platform and mast extension (hydraulics, guide rails), wheel steering on four-way models (synchronisation, steering sensors), condition of the load arms. Four-way models have complex steering electronics – have the fault memory read out.

Telescopic handlers: Boom slide bearings and telescopic chains, load moment limiter (must be in working order and have been tested), outriggers, quick-change coupler, work platform authorisation. When fitted with a work platform, the telescopic handler is classified as an aerial work platform with its own inspection requirements.

For all: Operating hours in relation to year of manufacture and usage, maintenance records, lifting chains and forks (replace if wear exceeds 10 per cent), leak-free cylinders, annual inspection in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68 (telescopic forklifts additionally subject to DGUV Principle 308-009), CE marking with declaration of conformity.

Frequently asked questions about all-terrain, side-loading and telescopic forklifts

All-terrain forklifts or telescopic forklifts for the building site?

If you’re handling pallets on uneven ground at ground level up to around 4 metres, an all-terrain forklift is simpler, cheaper and more manoeuvrable. If the load needs to be lifted onto scaffolding, onto a roof or over an obstacle, you’ll need a telescopic forklift with its extended reach.

When is a four-way forklift worth it?

As soon as long loads over 6 m are regularly moved on shelves or in bulk storage. A four-way forklift moves long loads lengthways through the door and crossways through the aisle – replacing both a side loader and a front-loading forklift. For occasional long loads, a front-loading forklift with a roller clamp or jib is sufficient.

Do I need a separate licence to operate a telescopic forklift?

Yes. Training in accordance with DGUV Guideline 308-009 is specifically tailored to telescopic forklifts; the standard forklift licence under 308-001 is not sufficient. If the forklift is fitted with a work platform, qualification for aerial work platforms is also required.

How much does a second-hand all-terrain forklift cost?

Factors affecting the price include load capacity, year of manufacture, operating hours, emission standard and the condition of the tyres. For ‘for sale’ advertisements, enquire with the dealer; specify the intended use and the surface conditions, and you’ll receive a suitable quote.

How many operating hours are still acceptable for specialist equipment?

All-terrain forklifts and telescopic forklifts are subjected to tougher conditions on building sites than warehouse equipment – 6,000 to 10,000 hours with documented maintenance is acceptable; without proof, caution is advised. Side-loaders in warehouses can achieve significantly higher operating hours if well maintained.

Can I lease this equipment or finance it via hire purchase?

For many listings, you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
