Frequently asked questions about lighting masts
How much does a lighting tower cost?
A new HiLight-class LED light tower is in the mid five-figure range, whilst used units from the hire market with just a few hundred operating hours are priced lower. Key factors affecting the price include the light source (LED vs. metal halide), runtime, mast drive and operating hours.
How many lighting masts do I need for a construction site?
A HiLight H6+ illuminates around 5,000 m² at 20 lux – for work areas requiring finer work, 50–100 lux are needed, meaning more masts or a tighter layout. ASR A3.4 specifies the required illuminance levels for each type of activity; as a rule of thumb, one mast per 1,500–2,500 m² of work area.
How long does a lighting mast run on a single tankful?
LED masts use very little electricity: the HiLight H6+ runs for over 200 hours – at 12 hours per night, that’s more than two weeks without anyone having to refuel it. Older metal halide masts last 60–80 hours.
Can I tow the lighting mast behind a car?
Yes, provided it weighs less than 1,300 kg and has a overrun brake, and you hold a Category B driving licence (total combination weight up to 3.5 t) – provided the chassis is fitted with lighting and has been granted type approval.
Can I lease a lighting mast or finance it through a hire-purchase scheme?
For many listings, you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their financing partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
