Second-hand high-lift pallet trucks, pedestrian stackers and electric pallet trucks from Linde, Still and Jungheinrich – direct from specialist dealers. For many warehouses, the electric high-lift pallet truck is the most cost-effective forklift: it stacks pallets up to 5 metres high, requires no forklift licence or driver’s seat and no 3.5-metre aisle width, yet costs only a fraction of the price of a front-loading forklift when bought second-hand. We stock used high-lift and low-lift pallet trucks with load capacities ranging from 1 to 3 t, mainly from the dealer Zoch in Aidenbach – with the year of manufacture, operating hours, lift height and load capacity specified in the listing.
Which pallet truck is right for your application?
Electric low-lift pallet trucks (tow-type): Linde T20, Jungheinrich EJE, Still EXU. For horizontal transport over longer distances – goods receipt, lorry unloading, order picking. Replaces the ‘Ameise’ and is easier on the back.
High-lift pallet trucks / tiller forklifts 1.2 to 1.6 t: Linde L12/L14/L16 (372, 1173), Still EXV 14/16, Jungheinrich EJC 214/216, BT SWE/SPE 140–160. The standard class: stacking pallets up to 3 to 5 m high, accessing racks up to the third or fourth level, bulk storage, loading lorries via a ramp.
2-tonne high-lift trucks: Linde L20, Still EXV 20, Jungheinrich EJC 220, Samag EL 20. For heavier pallets and mesh boxes.
With driver’s cab or driver’s seat: Linde L14 AP/L16 AP, Still FV-X, ESM, Crown WE – for long distances and high handling volumes, without compromising on the compact design.
Special versions: Initial lift for ramps and uneven ground (Linde D14 SP, ‘i’ models), integrated scales (Ravas), stainless steel for foodstuffs, short forks for half-pallets.
What we look for in a used high-lift pallet truck
Battery and charger: With high-lift pallet trucks, the battery accounts for a large proportion of the value. Ask about the age and capacity, have the state of charge demonstrated under load, and check whether a charger is included – some listings explicitly state ‘without battery’, which explains the price.
Mast and lift chain: Play in the mast, chain elongation, tight lift cylinders. The truck must hold the load at the top without sagging. For duplex and triplex masts, check the free lift if you’ll be working inside containers or under low gates.
Wheels and load rollers: The drive wheel (Vulkollan or polyurethane) and load rollers are the typical wear parts – worn-flat rollers jerk and damage the floor. New wheels are a real bonus.
Tiller and controls: Tiller head, drive switch, deadman’s switch or belly switch, horn – everything must function properly; this is also checked by the UVV.
Documentation: Annual inspection in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68, CE marking with a declaration of conformity. Operators of high-lift trucks require induction training; for equipment with a driver’s seat or standing platform, training in accordance with DGUV Guideline 308-001 is required.
| Equipment | Lifting height | Load capacity | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hand pallet truck | approx. 200 mm | 2–3 t | Short-distance transport, lorries |
| Electric low-lift pallet truck | approx. 200 mm | 1.6–3 t | Long distances, unloading, order picking |
| High-lift pallet truck / pedestrian-operated forklift | 1.6–5.5 m | 1–2 t | Racking up to 4 levels, bulk storage |
| High-lift forklifts with operator’s cab | up to 6 m | 1.2–2 t | High throughput, long distances |
| Reach truck | 6–13 m | 1–2.5 t | High-bay warehouses |
Do you need to go higher than 6 m? Then take a look at our reach trucks. For loading and production with a driver’s seat: electric forklift trucks.
Brands and dealers
Linde (L series), Still (EXV) and Jungheinrich (EJC) are the three major names in high-lift forklifts; BT, Crown, Stöcklin, Pramac, Hubtex and Samag complement the range with reliable machines. Most of our stock comes from Zoch GmbH & Co. KG in Aidenbach, which refurbishes its own warehouse equipment – many machines are freshly painted, some fitted with a weighing system or initial lift. Filter by manufacturer, load capacity, lift height, year of manufacture and operating hours.
Frequently asked questions about used high-lift forklifts and pallet trucks
How much does a second-hand high-lift pallet truck cost?
That depends on the lift height, year of manufacture, operating hours and, above all, the condition of the battery; machines without a battery are correspondingly cheaper. For ‘negotiable’ listings, please enquire with the dealer – if you provide your racking height and pallet weights, you’ll receive a suitable quote.
Do I need a forklift licence to operate a high-lift pallet truck?
For pedestrian-operated hand pallet trucks, documented training is sufficient. As soon as the truck has a driver’s platform or seat, it is classified as an industrial truck with a driver’s seat, and the driver must undergo training in accordance with DGUV Guideline 308-001.
High-lift truck or electric forklift?
For lifting heights of up to around 5 m, short to medium distances and pallets weighing up to 1.6 t, the high-lift truck is the more cost-effective and space-saving solution. For loading lorries without a ramp, long distances, outdoor use and heavy loads, you’ll need a front-loading forklift.
What does ‘initial lift’ mean?
The wheel arms lift an additional few centimetres. This allows the truck to negotiate ramps, thresholds and uneven ground whilst carrying a load, without the pallet touching the ground. This is important when loading lorries via loading bridges.
How long does the battery of a high-lift forklift last?
Lead-acid batteries last for around 1,200 to 1,500 charge cycles with proper maintenance, which equates to about five years in single-shift operation. Ask for the battery’s year of manufacture – it is stated on the battery’s type plate, not the machine’s.
Does a pallet truck need to undergo a UVV inspection?
Yes, all power-driven industrial trucks – including hand-guided trolleys – must be inspected annually by a qualified person in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68. Hand pallet trucks must also be checked regularly to ensure they are in a safe condition, although the effort involved is significantly less in this case.
Can I lease warehouse equipment or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings, you can submit a non-binding leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
