IVECO at a glance
IVECO was formed on 1 January 1975 through the merger of five manufacturers: Fiat Veicoli Industriali from Turin, OM from Brescia, Lancia Veicoli Speciali, the French manufacturer Unic, and Magirus-Deutz from Germany. The name is an acronym for Industrial Vehicles Corporation. In 1978, the Daily became the first van to be marketed under the company’s own name; it is still built today at the Suzzara plant near Mantua – where the 1.8-millionth Daily rolled off the production line in 2024. This was followed in 1991 by the medium-duty Eurocargo (built in Brescia, ‘Truck of the Year’ in 1992), and in 2002 by the heavy-duty Stralis, which was produced in Madrid, amongst other places, until 2021. Its successor, the S-Way, was unveiled in July 2019 and is also assembled in Madrid; for the construction sector, the X-Way has been available since 2018, and the T-Way since 2021 as the successor to the Trakker.
Since 1 January 2022, the brand has been part of the independent, Milan-listed Iveco Group (headquartered in Turin), which emerged from the spin-off from CNH Industrial. In addition to IVECO, the group also comprises IVECO BUS, the engine manufacturer FPT Industrial, Astra and Heuliez; in 2025, it generated a turnover of around 13.4 billion euros. The group sold the fire engine manufacturer Magirus to the private equity firm Mutares in January 2025. Tata Motors has submitted a takeover bid for all shares (acceptance period: September to October 2026); the defence division is excluded from this. IVECO itself operates seven production plants and more than 3,500 service and sales centres in over 160 countries.

What the IVECO model designation reveals
IVECO encodes the key specifications in the model designation. For the Daily, the first number indicates the gross vehicle weight (35 = 3.5 t), the letter denotes the rear axle tyre configuration (S = single tyres, C = twin tyres) and the second number multiplied by ten roughly indicates the power output in PS: A 35S14 is therefore a 3.5-tonne vehicle with around 140 PS and a single-tyre rear axle. Suffixes such as V (panel van), D (double cab) or P (air suspension) describe the variant. The Eurocargo is named according to the same pattern: 75E21 stands for a gross vehicle weight of around 7.5 tonnes and approximately 210 PS – often written as ‘75-210’ in the trade. For the Stralis and S-Way, the cab code comes first (AS = Active Space, AT = Active Time, AD = Active Day – ranging from long-haul to local transport), followed by the weight class (440, usually for the two-axle tractor unit) and the power output (S46 ≈ 460 PS); the suffix T/P usually indicates a tractor unit and air suspension. The exact configuration is specified in the advertisement and on the vehicle registration certificate.
| Model | Specifications | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Daily 35S14 | 3.5 t, single tyres, approx. 136–140 PS | Panel van, parcel and courier services, trades |

| Daily 50C / 70C | 5.0 or approx. 7 t gross vehicle weight | Heavy-duty distribution van, tipper, special bodywork |
| Eurocargo 75E21 (“75-210”) | 7.5 t, around 210 PS | Distribution van with tarpaulin or box body, tail lift |
| Eurocargo 120E / 180E | 12 or 18 t | Regional transport, crane lorries, municipal bodywork |
| Stralis AS440S46T/P | 4x2 tractor unit, approx. 460 PS, Active Space cab | Long-haul transport |

What we look for in a used IVECO
Engine and exhaust after-treatment: The Cursor engines in the heavy-duty series comply with Euro 6 using SCR technology without exhaust gas recirculation. Check maintenance records, oil change intervals and the condition of the AdBlue system and particulate filter; test cold starts and check for smoke emissions.
Gearbox and drivetrain: Many Stralis, S-Way and T-Way models are fitted with an automated manual gearbox (on current models, Hi-Tronix with 12 or 16 gears). Take a test drive, checking acceleration under load, clutch behaviour and the retarder. On the Daily, check the clutch and rear axle; on construction site lorries, check the four-wheel drive and differentials.
Chassis, cab and bodywork: Check for rust on the chassis, cab mountings and access steps; inspect the condition of the tarpaulin, box body, tail-lift or tipper body. For tippers, inspect the tipping hydraulics, tipper body and underrun protection.
Documents and mileage: Check the mileage against the service history and odometer; note the date of the next MOT and safety inspection; check the calibration of the digital tachograph. The emissions standard (Euro 5 or Euro 6) determines toll charges and access to low-emission zones.
IVECO at our dealership: Dealership and stock
Infa Nutzfahrzeuge in Dettelbach stocks the majority of our IVECO inventory: primarily Eurocargo 75–210 models with tarpaulin bodies and Euro 6 compliance from recent model years – ideal for distribution transport in the 7.5-tonne class. OCCAMAT from France offers older IVECO tippers. You can find comparable vehicles under MAN, Mercedes-Benz, DAF and Scania, and our full stock in the Transport Vehicles & Commercial Vehicles category.
Frequently asked questions about IVECO
What do 35S14 or 35C15 mean for the IVECO Daily?
35 stands for a 3.5-tonne gross vehicle weight, S for single tyres and C for twin tyres on the rear axle; the second number multiplied by ten gives a rough estimate of the power in PS. A 35C15 is therefore a 3.5-tonne vehicle with twin tyres and around 150 PS.
What does ‘Eurocargo 75-210’ mean?
This is how the Eurocargo 75E21 is usually written in the trade: a gross vehicle weight of around 7.5 t and approximately 210 PS. The 7.5-tonne model is the classic delivery van; it can be driven with a Category C1 driving licence.
Which IVECO models are most commonly traded on the second-hand market?
On the major second-hand vehicle portals, the Daily leads by a wide margin, followed by the Eurocargo, the Stralis and its successor, the S-Way. Among construction site vehicles, the Trakker, T-Way and X-Way are well represented.
What is the difference between the Stralis and the S-Way?
The Stralis was IVECO’s heavy-duty road truck from 2002 to 2021. The S-Way replaced it in 2019 – featuring a new cab and engines with displacements ranging from 9 to 13 litres, including gas and electric powertrains (S-eWay). Due to the large number of units produced, the Stralis remains very common on the second-hand market.
Trakker, T-Way or X-Way – which IVECO is best for the construction site?
The X-Way is designed for road and light off-road use and is lightweight to maximise payload, for example as a concrete mixer truck. The T-Way was launched in 2021 as the successor to the Trakker for heavy off-road use, ranging from 4x4 to 8x8 and with up to 510 PS.
Who owns IVECO?
IVECO is part of the Iveco Group, headquartered in Turin, which was spun off from CNH Industrial in 2022. Tata Motors submitted a takeover bid for all the group’s shares in 2026; the defence division is not included in the bid.
Is there an electric version of the IVECO Daily?
Yes, as the eDaily. Like the diesel Daily, it is built in Suzzara and electrified in Brescia; in the heavy-duty segment, IVECO offers the S-eWay. Second-hand electric variants are still rare.
Can I lease an IVECO or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings, you can submit a no-obligation leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are arranged directly between you and the seller.
