Buy new and used mobile excavators – Doosan/Develon, Yanmar, Takeuchi, Mecalac, Sany, Komatsu – directly from specialist dealers. The wheeled excavator can drive itself to the next site at speeds of 20 to 35 km/h without the need for a flatbed lorry – for civil engineering, sewerage works, road construction, local authorities and building yards with many short-duration jobs, it is the more economical choice compared to a crawler excavator. We offer mobile excavators ranging from 6 to 18 t from Kraus Baumaschinen, GSK Baumaschinen, Bontebok and OCCAMAT – with year of manufacture, operating hours and operating weight listed in the advert.

What we look for in a used mobile excavator
Axles, steering, brakes: oscillating axle and axle lock, play in the steering knuckles, oil leaks from planetary gearboxes, brakes (service and parking brakes), tyres (twin tyres front/rear, tread depth, cracks). When driving on the road, check for steering play and straight-line stability.
Rotary ring, boom, pins, hydraulics: play in the rotary ring, in the adjustable boom and stick; cracks and repair welds; leak-free cylinders; boom holds under load. For quick-change couplers, test the locking mechanism and sensors.
Outriggers and dozer blade: play and tightness of the outrigger cylinders, warping of the dozer blade – outriggers are often misused as brakes.
Engine, electronics, operating hours: cold start, smoke pattern, emission standard (Stage V with DPF/SCR on newer machines), fault memory. Mobile excavators operate for 1,000–1,500 hours per year; 6,000 hours with documented maintenance is normal.
Documentation: CE marking, declaration of conformity, annual inspection by a qualified person, road licence/registration (20 or 30 km/h) with lighting.

Frequently asked questions about used mobile excavators
How much does a used mobile excavator cost?
Older 14-tonne mobile excavators from the 2000s start in the low five-figure range, whilst newer 10-tonne machines with Stage V compliance and quick-couplers can reach six-figure sums. Factors affecting the price include weight class, year of manufacture, operating hours, boom, quick-change coupler, road-legal status and emissions standard.
Wheeled excavator or crawler excavator?
A wheeled excavator if you frequently change sites, work on hard ground and need to travel on public roads. A crawler excavator if stability, traction and soft ground are important – and the machine will remain in one place for a long time.
How many operating hours are still acceptable?
Wheeled excavators are designed for 12,000 hours or more. A machine with fewer than 4,000 hours is considered new. The key factors are the axles, slewing ring, boom adjustment pins and maintenance history.
Is a mobile excavator allowed to be driven on public roads?
Yes, provided it has an operating licence or registration (with a maximum speed of 20 or 30 km/h, depending on the model), lights, warning signs and a securely attached attachment. Many second-hand machines have the necessary paperwork – check the advert.
Telescopic boom or monoblock?
Telescopic boom (two-piece) for working close to the machine, high loading heights and confined construction sites – standard in Germany. The monoblock design is simpler, cheaper and offers greater digging force at depth.
Can I lease a mobile excavator or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings, you can submit a non-binding enquiry about leasing or hire purchase directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
