Zanussi Professional at a glance
Zanussi was founded in 1916 in Pordenone, in north-eastern Italy: the young stove-maker Antonio Zanussi opened the workshop ‘Officina Fumisteria Antonio Zanussi’ there and built cookers and wood-fired stoves. Under his son Lino, the business developed into an industrial group after 1946; in 1962, it received the Compasso d’Oro design award for the ‘Model 700’ gas cooker and began manufacturing dishwashers in 1965. In 1968, Zanussi acquired F. Zoppas SpA and, with it, the professional division Zoppas Grandi Cucine – laying the foundations for today’s commercial kitchen brand. At the end of 1984, the Swedish Electrolux Group acquired Zanussi.
Today, Zanussi Professional is part of the Electrolux Professional Group, which was spun off from AB Electrolux in 2020 and listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm. The Stockholm-based group generated a turnover of around 12.5 billion Swedish kronor in 2025 and employs approximately 4,300 people; its operational headquarters for catering equipment has been in Pordenone since 1999. Zanussi’s domestic appliances, on the other hand, remain part of AB Electrolux – a separate company with its own product range and customer service.

What the Zanussi model names reveal
For the cooking ranges, the number indicates the depth: 900 refers to the 90 cm deep range with a larger worktop, whilst 700 refers to the 70 cm deep range for smaller kitchens. The units can be combined as tabletop or freestanding appliances in modular widths to form a continuous cooking line; in the catalogue, the ranges are now called EvoPro 700 and 900, whilst data sheets and type plates usually show EVO700 or EVO900. For Magistar combi-steamers, the size indicates the number of Gastronorm trays (6, 10 or 20 × GN 1/1 or 2/1), whilst the abbreviation denotes the control type: TS and TI with touchscreen, DS and DI with digital control panel. Older combi ovens operate under the names easySteam or easySteam Plus; the type plate often features abbreviations such as FCZ. For spare parts, the six-digit part number on the type plate is required.

What we look for in second-hand Zanussi appliances
Combi-ovens: Check the steam generator or boiler for limescale; test the door seal, lighting, core temperature probe and cleaning system. Operating hours and the error log provide an indication of usage; appliances with limescale build-up due to a lack of water softening are expensive to repair.
Burners, gas connection and electrical system: For gas hobs, deep-fat fryers and tilting roasting pans, check the ignition, ignition safety device and flame pattern; verify the gas type (natural gas or LPG) against the type plate and have the connection carried out by a specialist firm. Electrical appliances usually run on 400 V three-phase current – check that the connection ratings match those of your kitchen.
Hygiene and stainless steel: Grease build-up, corrosion on welded seams, and the condition of deep-fat fryers, pasta cookers and spray arms reveal how well the equipment has been maintained. For dishwashers, test the heating element, pumps and dosing units; for refrigeration units, check the temperature, seals and evaporator.
Documentation and inspections: Ask for the item number, operating instructions and up-to-date inspection reports – the electrical inspection in accordance with DGUV Regulation 3, and for gas appliances, the leak and functional tests. This makes it easier to pass inspections by food safety authorities and insurance companies.

Frequently asked questions about Zanussi Professional
Is Zanussi Professional the same as Zanussi domestic appliances?
No. Both trace their origins back to the Zanussi workshop in Pordenone in 1916, but today they belong to different groups: Zanussi Professional is part of the Electrolux Professional Group, whilst the domestic brand belongs to AB Electrolux. Product ranges, spare parts and after-sales service are separate.
What is the difference between the Zanussi 700 and 900 series?
The number refers to the depth: the 700 series is 70 cm deep and designed for smaller kitchens, whilst the 900 series is 90 cm deep, with larger hobs and performance capabilities for continuous use.
What do TS, TI, DS and DI mean on the Magistar?
The abbreviations describe the control system: TS and TI feature a touchscreen with extensive programme functions, whilst DS and DI have a digital control panel with programme memory via USB. The size (6, 10, 20 GN) refers to the number of shelves.
Which second-hand Zanussi appliances are commonly traded?
Items from the 700 and 900 cookery ranges – gas cookers, deep fryers, pasta cookers, griddle plates and tilting frying pans – as well as hood-type dishwashers and glasswashers are particularly often offered for sale second-hand. These are joined by combi-steamers from the easySteam and Magistar ranges.
Are spare parts still available for older Zanussi appliances?
Spare parts for many older Zanussi commercial kitchen appliances are available from specialist retailers. The part number on the type plate is crucial; this allows parts to be identified unambiguously.
What inspections are required for a second-hand commercial kitchen appliance?
In Germany, electrical appliances are regularly inspected in accordance with DGUV Regulation 3, whilst gas appliances are also checked for leaks and proper functioning. Having a current inspection report when purchasing saves you the hassle of commissioning the appliance.
Where are Zanussi commercial kitchen appliances manufactured?
The brand originates from Pordenone. The Electrolux Professional Group has had its operational headquarters and manufacturing facilities for its catering equipment there since 1999; the group’s laundry equipment division, however, is based in Ljungby, Sweden.
Can I lease a Zanussi appliance or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings – both new and second-hand – you can submit a no-obligation leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can discuss the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
