Buy new and used Bulmor side-loading forklifts – a wide selection of diesel, electric and multi-directional side-loading forklifts directly from specialist dealers. Bulmor, based in Upper Austria, manufactures side loaders for long loads: pipes, sections, timber, panels and steel, which are positioned across the direction of travel on a platform, allowing them to fit through narrow aisleways and yard gates. You’ll find used Bulmor forklifts in our ‘Forklifts – Other Machinery’ category – heavy-duty diesel models are also listed under ‘Diesel Forklifts’ – with details such as year of manufacture, operating hours, load capacity, lift height, mast type and platform dimensions included in the listing. Supplied by Zoch from Aidenbach and Hinrichs Flurfördergeräte; the stock changes constantly. Important: Bulmor side-loading forklifts pick up the load from the side – they are not conventional front-loading forklifts.
Bulmor at a glance
Bulmor Industries GmbH is based in Perg, Upper Austria. Its roots date back to 1879, when the Schöberl & Söhne engine and machinery factory was founded. From the 1960s onwards, the company manufactured front-loading forklifts; since the 1980s, it has focused on large ‘jumbo’ side-loading forklifts. Over the years, technology from the side-loader pioneers Irion, Lancer and SHS was incorporated; in 2011, all brands were brought together under the Bulmor name. The company has been privately owned since its foundation.
Today, Bulmor employs around 125 people in Perg and manufactures approximately 350 forklifts per year, with subsidiaries in Germany (Bühl), the Netherlands and the UK. The Bulmor Group also includes Votex-Bison and MKF compact forklifts. Its main customers are in the timber, steel, aluminium, plastics and building materials industries. Under the Bulmor Airground brand, the SideBull – an airport ambulift based on a side-loader – is also being developed.

What the Bulmor model designation reveals
The first letter indicates the drive type: D for diesel, E for electric; multi-directional forklifts are now designated as BMS, whilst four-way models are also designated as EMU. Lower-case letters such as n, r or rc indicate the specific variant within the series. The first number is the load capacity in 100 kg: a DQnr 50 lifts 5 t, an EQ 120 lifts 12 t. Longer designations from the data sheet and type plate include further dimensions, usually ending with the lift height in decimetres: For the DQ60-12-57T, these are 6 t and 5,700 mm; for the DQN40-12-55T, 4 t and 5,500 mm – both of these machines feature a triplex mast. You should always check the platform width, load centre and mast in the advertisement, as Bulmor configures many machines to customer specifications.
| Model | Specifications | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| DQ No. 50 | 5 t, diesel, 55.4 kW, lift height up to 8 m | Timber and building materials trade, outdoor storage |
| DQN40-12-55T | 4 t, 5.5 m triplex, diesel, hydrostatic | Profiles and pipes in narrow aisles |
| DQ60-12-57T / DQr 60 | 6 t, 5.7 m, diesel (DQr 74.4 kW) | Steel trading, long goods outdoors |
| EQn 50 / EQ 60 / EQ 80 | 5–8 t, 80 V, lead or lithium | Indoor and mixed-use operations indoors and outdoors, emission-free |
| EQ 120 | 12 t, electric (Heavy Line) | Heavy coils, beams, precast concrete elements |
| BMS 45 | 4.5 t, multi-directional, electric | Long-load racking with narrow aisles |
| EMU 25 | 2.5 t, 3.5 m, four-way, 48 V | Profile and sheet metal storage in the hall |
| Heavy Line Diesel | up to 25 t | Steel, timber and precast plants |
What we look for in a used Bulmor
Extension system and platform: On a side-loading forklift, the mast extends transversely to the direction of travel. Check the guides, rollers and cylinders of the extension system for play and leaks; inspect the platform for deformation caused by heavy long loads.
Mast, forks and lift height: Check whether the mast is triplex or duplex, and inspect the free lift and fork wear. The fork length and platform dimensions must be suitable for your material – a 6-t unit for steel pipes requires different dimensions to one for sawn timber.
Drive system and battery: For diesel hydrostatic models, check the engine and exhaust after-treatment system; for electric models, check the battery’s age, capacity and charger. Side-loaders are often used in multi-shift operation, so compare the operating hours with the maintenance log.
Documentation and inspection: Compare the type plate, year of manufacture and load capacity chart with the advertisement; ensure you have proof of the annual inspection in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68 and the inspection logbook.
Bulmor with us: Dealers and stock
Zoch in Aidenbach offers used Bulmor diesel side-loaders in the medium load capacity classes, with the triplex mast, platform dimensions and transmission type specified in the advert. Hinrichs Flurfördergeräte in Oldenburg stocks heavy-duty diesel side-loaders for large loads and electric four-way side-loaders for indoor use. If you’re looking for a heavy-duty front-loading forklift instead of a side-loading forklift, you’ll find them under Kalmar, Hyster and Linde; the full stock is shown in the ‘Forklifts & Industrial Trucks’ category.
Frequently asked questions about Bulmor side-loaders
What is a side loader?
A forklift that picks up the load from the side and places it on a platform next to the driver. This means that long goods such as pipes, sections or planks lie lengthways to the direction of travel – the machine can fit through narrow aisles and gates where a front-loading forklift with a load positioned across the width would get stuck.
What do DQ and EQ stand for at Bulmor?
D stands for diesel, E for electric. The number following it indicates the load capacity in 100 kg: a DQ No. 50 lifts 5 t, an EQ 80 lifts 8 t. In longer model names such as DQ60-12-57T, the final number usually denotes the lift height in decimetres.
What is a multi-directional sideloader?
A side loader whose wheels can be steered so that it can travel both forwards and sideways. Bulmor manufactures BMS series multi-directional trucks with lifting capacities of 2 to 12 t, powered by 48 or 80 V electric motors, for long-load warehouses with narrow aisles.
How much can a Bulmor side loader lift?
Standard side-loaders cover a range of around 5 to 8 t; the Heavy Line range offers a capacity of up to 18 t for electric models and up to 25 t for diesel models. Lift heights of up to 8 m are possible; the platform and mast are often customised to suit the application.
Are there any Bulmor models with lithium-ion batteries?
Yes. The EQ G02 generation of electric side-loaders is available, on request, with a lithium-ion battery in addition to the lead-acid battery; according to the manufacturer, this enables up to 15 hours of operation per charge.
What do Irion and Lancer have to do with Bulmor?
Both were well-known side-loader brands, whose technology has been incorporated into Bulmor. Since 2011, all brands have been marketed uniformly as Bulmor; some older second-hand machines still appear with the old model designations.
How many operating hours are acceptable for a second-hand Bulmor?
Provided there is evidence of regular maintenance, 8,000 to 12,000 hours is no problem for diesel side-loaders; Bulmor relies on a robust frame construction designed for harsh outdoor use. More important are the condition of the extension, mast and hydraulics, as well as the battery in the case of electric models.
Can I lease a Bulmor side loader or finance it via hire purchase?
For many listings, you can submit a no-obligation leasing or hire-purchase enquiry directly. You can clarify the terms with the dealer or their finance partner; the purchase and payment are handled directly between you and the seller.
